That's a good question! This pattern has been extremely boring and we desperately need rain and mountain snow statewide!

Great. There's a fire once again causing mandatory evacuations in the Foothill Ranch area.

It's called the Bond Fire, not the Bonfire

Winds are pretty calm here right now, so hopefully that will keep the fire away from our house.

Sorry, hope you are safe over there. Seems to be a lot of fires affecting your area lately.

The potent smell of smoke is present here this afternoon, but the air is still relatively clear.

Very weird how the strong winds never reached my area. Could not see or smell any smoke today.

I can't believe how many fires have been in the Santa Ana Mountains region and adjacent areas this fall! We had the Blue Ridge Fire in Yorba Linda and the Silverado Fire near Irvine Lake and Silverado Canyon back in October and now the Corona Airport Fire and the Bond Fire just a couple of miles away from the previous two fires! I am getting suspicious of the origin of these fires considering how close together these two pairs of fires were.

Hopefully they find out what caused all these fires!

Looks like another strong Santa Ana set up with that cut off low dropping south the next few days. Hopefully not too many fires this time around.

Quite cloudy today which is unusual for Santa Ana winds.

I certainly hope there aren't any more fires in Orange County and nearby areas! We have had our share of them this fall so far. I am more than ready for some rain around here!

Another strange mostly cloudy Santa Ana wind day. Quite hot outside when the sun comes out.

86 degrees today in Fullerton.

In Lake Forest it was hot as well and a large group of people were having a picnic at the park and playing at the playground, which was officially closed.

Arizona has a chance of rain but we do not.

Only about 77F here today. Very warm overnight, however. 
December 2000, December 2005 and December 2017 might be good analogs (however relevant those still are). I’d prefer a 2000-01 scenario over a 2017-18 one any day.

Interesting how even a single gust of wind drastically affects temperature during events like these.

I surely hope we don't have a 2017-18 repeat! That rainy season was absolutely atrocious! I'd rather have another 2000-01 and even 2005-06 wouldn't be bad, either.

The one storm we had in early November, as weak as it was, still puts us wetter than Oct-Dec of 2017.

51F, cloudy and almost foggy. Very unusual for December. Definitely not what was forecast today, either.

Drizzle here now. Ground is wet but hasn’t registered in my rain gauge yet.

Some patches of blue sky have since opened up. But here was the scene in the southern Santa Ana Mountains where I was earlier today.
