Reg
Interestingly, my rain gauge managed to register 0.01" just before midnight. Other nearby stations recorded the same thing at the same time I did. Legit drizzle, rather than condensation.

Streets were wet here for a little while overnight. Humidity has come crashing down into the teens this afternoon and there is a potent smell of smoke in the air. Onshore flow is supposed to return late this evening according to the NWS. Talk about a flip-flop pattern.

Omegaraptor
D**n. The Sacramento Valley town of Willows just got its first rain in 197 days. They average roughly 21” a year. Driest year on record is 1976 at 4.30” YTD and they are almost an inch behind that.

Reg
From this morning's NWS San Diego forecast discussion: Quote Looking ahead to the final week of the year, we are seeing some indications that a wetter period may be at hand for SoCal. The various ensemble members of the ECMWF/GFS reflect this with almost a 50-50 split of wet and dry solutions over SoCal. Better consensus however is achieved with the 12Z deterministic runs of the ECMWF/ GFS/Canadian models. All show an active Pacific storm track dipping far enough south to get us wet. During the late summer, you usually can’t even see the mountains at all, shrouded in a dense layer of smog most of the time. It’s worst in September, on average. Dan the Weatherman
FINALLY some exciting weather to talk about here in Socal! We had quite a light show here in Orange for about 20 minutes or so with frequent lightning and thunder between 1 and 1:30 am. It was raining quite heavily for a while, but now that the lightning has stopped it is now raining moderately. This is definitely the first more significant rain event of the season. 1 1
Reg
Just had a burst of heavy rain accompanied by very strong winds. The rain was blowing almost completely sideways. My bedroom window is letting in a ton of rainwater just now around where my window A/C is installed, that never happened in past years because my window faces a direction where rain almost never comes from. I've just secured it with towels. 0.12" so far. 1
