2nd day of no marine layer stratus.  but it's already windy outside.

Temps dipped down to a chilly 40F this morning in Santa Maria, typical of Dec and Jan lows.

It is now snowing in Lake Tahoe. Also some freezing fog.

We could also have some snow in the mountains above 5000 ft.

I'm enjoying this cool, breezy weather this far into May. I hope it lasts longer before the inevitable blast of summer heat coming our way sometime in June, which likely won't end until October.

The light snow flurries in the Sierras looks to be supplied with a backdoor moisture flow into the low that is over the center of the state. That moisture flow originates from the big blob of moisture near 145 W of the ITCZ. Isn't that path unusual. Or is that a sign of a potent summer monsoon coming for the Southwest?

Managed to sink down to 46F here this morning, rare for late May.

We are in Indio for a week. First vacation since Covid.

Or the way up there were some storm clouds over the mountains and I think I saw some fresh snow.

Having spent much of the day in San Diego as well as on the Amtrak up to Oceanside, it was enjoyably cool and breezy along the coasts down there today, with a significant marine layer presence during the evening. I'm back home in Murrieta now though.

Some modest showers in the southern Sierras- radar even shows a little snow. Are these low pressures on the surface map what are sometimes referred to as the " inside slider"?

2020-2021 water year as of today, May 31, at my weather station. I recorded no measurable rainfall at my location this May, except for a Trace on May 16. May 2020 was also completely dry at my location as well, making two Mays in a row with 0.00" here.

It's that time of year where we wait to see what will be the first day of June for KSAN to reach 70 F.

May was a cooler than average month for Santa Maria. A lot cooler than last May!

Weird burnoff today with a very early burnoff over Southern Orange County. Meanwhile, still has not burned off to the coast in San Diego and Los Angeles Counties.

Junuary 7. Today looks to be the coldest day of the week and possibly for quite some time.

Just past noon and still completely cloudy and only 64F here inland. Even for June, that is very rare this far inland.

Looks like a statewide heat wave is forecasted next week. Even at the coast is significantly warming up finally.
