Clouds broke for what should be a killer sunset. Meanwhile, perennial Valley hotspot Winnetka reached 96F, their average August high!

NWS has issued an excessive heat watch for the Central Coast Section of SB and SLO Counties and they bumped up my temps for the whole week. The beaches will be super crowded for upcoming days ahead, especially in Santa Barbara and Pismo Beach.

Massive jump in those overnight lows starting tomorrow night. It was still relatively cool last night here, but warmest night of the year so far. Needed only half as much hot water for my shower.

Pretty good visibility today by June standards—can clearly see the mountains. 10 miles from the water and it’s already in the 80s!

Woodland Hills/Winnetka on track to have its first 100 degree day of the year. Got to 98 in April and again in May, if memory serves.

NWS now has a high of 97F for Orcutt on Wednesday! The last time it reached 100F or higher in June was back in 2008, when it reached the all time high of 110F.

Good news it that it cleared out very quickly this morning and now it's in the mid 70's already.

Wow it's 90F now! Heated up fast and the wind direction shifted to the north.

Dang! MB usually hits its high before noon because we’re so close to the water. We’re near the middle of the Santa Monica Bay on a west facing shore. Looks like 76 for a high unless the northerly gradient chokes off the sea breeze.

Just be glad that you don't live in Morro Bay as they had a high of 76F before 9AM! Now its back in the 50's.

Hoo-wee. We dropped to 75 pretty shortly after that 80 degree high and it kept dropping. All the way down to 67 now. If this happened in July or August with a warmer sea we’d probably still be in the mid-seventies.

Dewpoints have been kinda dry out here, only in the 40's.

Here, too. Holding at 77F from a high of 82F around 11:30am.

Incredible heat in SLO and Morro Bay today. It reached at least 108F in SLO and even 99F possible 100F in Morro Bay! It's very rare to have Morro Bay to be hotter than the Santa Maria area anytime of the year, especially during Summer!

High was only 97F here today compared to 109F yesterday. More high clouds have since moved in, cooling the temperature down to 89F.

There was an incredible contrast between west and south facing beaches today. Usually, the west facing ones are cooler as they’re more exposed to prevailing winds. But today the wind was on a north south axis, causing Long Beach to struggle to climb above 70 when it’s usually among the warmest of the coastal cities. Manhattan Beach (often cooler than the Santa Monica Pier with typical winds!) reached 82.

99-100 in Morro Bay is unbelievable. Probably record shattering.
