Reg
It's Fall today but you wouldn't know it if you stepped outside - 103F here in Murrieta this afternoon, which following a warm July-like night last night. Anti Marine Layer
Shadow of a beam on a east or west facing wall will be at an angle equal to your latitude throughout the day today. The shadow of a north-south facing wall stays about the same length all day.
Pn1ct0g3n
Already back to 73 here. The high here has stayed within 3 degrees of that nine days out of ten since June.

AquariusRadar
Nice showers for Reg and south of Salton Sea. A nice flow of Pacific moisture helping a small popup cyclone just south of Yuma. It is interesting that the very driest part of the blocking high (as viewed with the upper water vapor image) has moved rather quickly- over the last 48 hours -to a position SE of the Hawaiian Islands.

Thunder98
It's incredible how mild September has been for the Coast this year with a lack of real heat waves and the marine layer still entrenched like it's May. Reg
0.04" from showers here, even heard a couple rumbles of thunder. Hasn't cleared out yet as it remains muggy and occasionally sprinkling.

Pn1ct0g3n
Nuttin here, natch. That stable ocean air reliably rips everything apart once it encounters wind off the cooler waters north of PV.
Pn1ct0g3n
If you wanted a taste of the mid 2010s this year, San Diego delivered best. They avoided most of the extended cool spells this summer and got yet another thunderstorm today.
Anti Marine Layer
Juicy atmosphere today. After the thunderstorms, some low clouds tried to form, but then they decided not to.
AquariusRadar
That driest pile of the blocking high has now moved almost south of Hawaii. The Northeast quadrant of the high is wetting up with a good flow of moisture over the top of the high into British Columbia and rain for the temperate rain forest there. The lesser flow under the belly of the beast is into the Baja low pressure and making very light showers for Southern Arizona. The next Aleutian cyclone and push of cold air might bring some rain to NorCal. If that super dry part of the blocking high stays way out there 3 thousand miles from the Pacific Coast and If the dry can stay out there, fall might be looking good for rain in California.
