75 to 85 is my preferred temperature range, but 100 outside when there is shade and low humidity is bearable.

 

Between very hot and very cold, I consider very hot to be the lesser of 2 evils.

It went up to 103F today in Santa Maria, which was 8 degrees warmer than expected.

The Cal Poly SLO WX station recorded a high of 120F, which is the hottest temp recorded there. Insane

Looks like worst of the heat wave is over. A south wind indicates the eddy may have spun up, but this also seems to have increased humidity.

The day after record breaking heat, Woodland Hills is back to a relatively temperate 95F.

30 degrees cooler this afternoon here versus yesterday afternoon. Looks cloudy but it’s all just smoke.

Smoke has temporarily thinned out a bit. Most of it is high enough to not stink.

About 10 degrees cooler here than the same time yesterday. The sun shines an angry orange through the smoke.

It has been smoky aloft here in Orange all day today, but at least there wasn't any smell of smoke and temps were significantly cooler as well.

Strange morning here. Deep marine layer, lots of smoke, and temperatures in the low 70s.

Low clouds have reached the coastal slopes this morning under all the smoke. Oops!

Looks like a nuclear winter this morning, but temperature is reporting 75 at KFUL, which is not exactly winter-like.

Microclimates much less pronounced today. It’s mid 70s from the beaches to the coastal plain to the valleys. 67F in La Cañada Flintridge—they must be right inside the low clouds.

Cloudy today and stuck at 74F, just past noon. Very different from just a few days ago.
