I had a pretty busy night on shift at NWS Phoenix last night as an MCS blasted into SE Cali. I see it eventually made it to San Diego.

All the monsoon clouds are gone. 😒

Yesterday’s plume is heading north and has helped reduce ML coverage near the central coast. I looked at the satellite and it’s still looking active over AZ, with a chance for a little of it to come our way. And the low clouds have been practicing social distancing from our area…for now.

It was relatively warm last night and this morning, only dropped to 58F. Dew points also elevated again today at around 60F. Temp is 77F now :)

58F would be a nice cool night here. Haven't had a night that cool since June.

Cooled off considerably in late afternoon near the coast because of a stronger-than-average sea breeze and the mid level cloud cover. Inland areas still pretty toasty despite it.

Would have liked it to have rained a bit  more to dampen the brush down and delay the peak fire season.

This original NY Times article outlines the dry demise of Mendocino Dry Mendocino

https://www.yahoo.com/news/small-towns-grow-desperate-water-151127669.html

The article points out the advantage of big tax base and advanced planning by SoCal Cities that keep the taps running.

What if the next winter is another 50% snowpack? Will LA be so lucky? Will the backup reservoirs be enough? The total absence of government(s) efforts to find water for the entire state is a crying shame. The state and federal government should have our best scientists working as a brain trust to solve the impending crisis.
