East Dubzz
Sleeting here, can hear it popping off the skylights pretty good. yes it has. Looks like it was raining a little, but can hear sleet mixing in now.
Clinton
Wow! From 5-10 inches in KC in many runs leading up to today to some struggling to get to an inch of snow tomorrow. EURO/NAM totally flipped today, less then 24 hours out from the snow part of the storm. Hopefully they are wrong and the 18z HRR is correct which still shows the 4-6 inch band. Nothing is a guarantee in the world of snow.I think we are going to see around 2-5 in of snow the question is ice, do we get frz rain or sleet?
East Dubzz
Air temp has been steadily dropping the last hour and a half. Was 34.7 about an hour and a half ago and is now down to 32.2.
bud2380
Temp dropping here as well, albeit slowly. DOwn to 31.6 was 32.0 about an hour ago.
Iowawx
I'm no weather expert but I take it that there is at least some warm air aloft because the air temp in Cedar Rapids is 30 and we are getting freezing rain/sleet.

hlcater
HRRR brings another round of precip to the area tomorrow morning, but despite the column certainly supporting snow, the lack of moisture perfectly collocated with the DGZ might hinder flake production and yield more FZR/graupel rather than flakes. Seems like kind of an odd evolution to me, and if true, may hinder accums for at least part of saturday. Stormhunter87
Got another solid band working in but we will be done after that. I would guess already over 2 inches here but the wind is making it hard.
OmahaSnowFan
Finally getting some better snow rates after watching the heavier stuff set up basically right across the interstate from me for the last hour. Ground and streets are finally getting white. I still think I don’t hit 1 inch before this is done in a couple of hours

Hawkeye
As models suggested, the snow/sleet line in this area is barely moving. It'll take hours to get down to Cedar Rapids. Bryan1117
The snow is coming down at a pretty good rate right now in my backyard here in Southwest Omaha. The snow that is falling is blowing around pretty good, however I would estimate around 1 to 1 1/2 inches of snow is on the ground here. Looks like I might tack on another half to one inch of snow to grab my biggest snowfall total so far this Winter season, yay LOL!
hlcater
If the SN/IP line doesnt get here soon enough, it's going to start really cutting into totals and we may only get an inch or two. Looking at radar, the main slug of precip is already well into Iowa.... Incredible how this (quite literally) happens with every storm. 1 Quote 2021-22 Snowfall: (Hiawatha) TOTAL: 10.2" (12/28: 3.0") (12/29: 0.8") (1/1: 6.4")

BMT
Sleet is always the precip of choice when we finally get a good system with plenty of moisture. What a waste.
Grizzcoat
not going to end with warning totals - probably 3-4". drier echoes moving in- but I'll take it. 2 Quote The two loudest sounds known to man: a gun that goes bang when it is supposed to go click and a gun that goes click when it is supposed to go bang. East Dubzz
Main roads are still fine, but the side roads are for sure getting a little slick. Luckily the roads will be worst at a time when travel starts to slow down.
