The front came through OLM around 5:50 PM. Rain switched to snow there and down to 33 as of half an hour ago. Radar looking healthy in WA.

Looking downright anemic in our neck of the woods. Like two different planets.

I’m not sure I would agree with that. I’m reasonably sure Bellingham has seen single digits in the past decade, and it’s unlikely to get that cold in this event. The real top-tier cold snap is limiting itself to the BC interior.

I was in Bellingham in December 2008, and we got down to 4. Not in the city, but a few miles East.

Been stuck at 36F. Stupid onshore flow.

Looks Nov 2006ish to me. Certainly possible, but it's a narrow band, we need a lot of things to go right. The 3K NAM shows a complete bust, though it's probably a bit too aggressive in scouring the cold air.

Yeah it’s gonna be a nowcast situation . I feel the RGEM/HRDPS have performed among the best yesterday/today so I’m hoping they’re good with tomorrow’s situation

This is totally becoming 1996. Only diff is I do not see a Pineapple Express coming. Let us meditate on the notion that this is Groundhog Day for 6-8 more weeks. At least by then the doofuss drivers might learn how to navigate properly and not into the ditch every time there is a skiff of it around.

I think I now have a inferiority complex towards Seattle...

Until the Gorge comes to life!

When I lived down there I always felt like PDX out performed Seattle.

I could be wrong but just felt that way.  The gorge was always delivering the chilly air while storms marched into it.

You could always go to UW. Though the U district is a terrible place for snow.

Why not go to a place with interesting weather if it is that important for you? Maybe MSU Bozeman?

Not smart enough to get scholarships in those kinds of places. I feel I'm kinda trapped in-state at this point. One of the reasons I was hoping for a nice snowstorm this month-- a good send-off before I head down south.

It's hard to beat an overrunning event in PDX when the gorge is cold and a low tracks to our south. High potential stuff. PDX is fairly useless at anything else though. Cold onshore flow almost never works great, a bit too warm and the coast range murders everything like it is right now.
