Yep, just in the last five minutes the flake size and rate have ramped up here on the west side of CR.

 

FINALLY some good daylight snow.

The snow went from flurries to heavy snow very fast. Took this picture along C Ave in Cedar Rapids on my way home.

That's the view I'm looking forward to seeing later this afternoon!  Blowing/drifting snow on the roadways is something we haven't seen to much this year.

More bright green is filling in toward Cedar Rapids on radar, so the snow should pick up again shortly.  We've been stuck in a weaker moat for a while.

The HRRR verbatim would be a crippling winter storm over here. 0.10-0.20 of ice here, with 6"+ of snow. Not to mention the light rates of the FZR would be ideal for ice accretion, as well as coming off a single digit arctic airmass yesterday.
