Yep, just in the last five minutes the flake size and rate have ramped up here on the west side of CR.

That's the view I'm looking forward to seeing later this afternoon!  Blowing/drifting snow on the roadways is something we haven't seen to much this year.

Looks like the atmosphere is going to saturate just in time for the heavy band to move in! Rush hour is going to be mayhem in the cities.

More bright green is filling in toward Cedar Rapids on radar, so the snow should pick up again shortly.  We've been stuck in a weaker moat for a while.

Just got home from work. Wow it's bad out. 100% snow covered and 1/4 visibility. Just measured 1.8". This is awesome and its daytime! And a Friday!

The changeover to sleet/freezing rain still looks to occur later this evening, but the HRRR also has a heavy band of snow that roates through eastern Iowa Saturday morning.

The HRRR verbatim would be a crippling winter storm over here. 0.10-0.20 of ice here, with 6"+ of snow. Not to mention the light rates of the FZR would be ideal for ice accretion, as well as coming off a single digit arctic airmass yesterday.

My rate is currently about 1.5"/hr.  My total is 1.3".
