2/12 - 2/14 Lower Lakes Cutter

The CAMs continue to show the initial surge of snow missing me a bit to the southeast.  If that is the case, I doubt I'll be able to get more than an inch.

Yeah, that would be eerily similar to Vet's Day with the synoptic wave jack-zone, and LES jack-zone the following night! Too bad it's not the model of choice with any storm, lol.

Meanwhile Euro looks like another headline FAIL around here. As a matter of fact, it looks pretty odd that GRR has headlines and DTX does not. Models either give all of SMI enough to warrant a WWA, or they don't give either side of the state enough at all. I smell bust. 1" of pixie dust incoming on top of my 2" snow pack. Lol @ snow-on-snow 2019-20 style

DTX is expecting 1-3" and then another 1-2" for tomorrow. I think this warrants for a WWA.

Pretty good looking returns in Clinton's territory.

Heavy snow is falling. I was surprised at how quickly it began to accumulate.  I have a temp of 32, I think the sun angle was made to big of an issue by some as it is only Feb 12th not March 12th.  This could have a chance to overachieve.

Whoa. Oh, Canada!

Too bad its by itself! It was nice though to see a model like this for a change.

Good luck down there, and I completely agree about the sun angle. It’s mid-Feb. When did the sun angle become such an early concern?

Clinton,

Where exactly are you? An hour or so SE of K.C.? Are you actually in Clinton, Mo? If so, I think you are in the best spot to get a very wet accumulation.

Temps are 35 here in the city and around 32-33 outside the city limits. Going to be tough to get pavement accums today but if we can get the snow to hang on through the evening, we might stack up a bit this evening.

Too bad we aren’t 25 degrees, this would be a 6-9 inch snow easily. Beautiful moisture surge.

Snow began to accumulate here right away temps have bounced between 31 and 32.  Grizz nailed my location perfectly.  I am actually between Warrensburg and Clinton a little closer to the burg.

As the Arctic Front rolls on through, temps are expected to fall at or below zero first time this Winter season. Wcf will be well below zero. Hard to believe that the coldest air of the seaason is coming now, this late in Winter. B)

Really not that far behind. Though the coldest part of winter in these parts on AVG is the 3rd week of JAN- all time record lows are mostly in early FEB around the Upper Midwest.

Crunched a few numbers and put my CALC 6  :D  to use and the front is barrelling Southerly at avg speed of 25-30 mph. Yesterday at 6AM it was at about 56N latitude Today at 6AM it was roughly at the 46th latitude. Cool how consistent in speed it has been.

 Its mid February. It will be March in 18th days.

Tbh, I would prefer these arctic airmasses during the coldest part of Winter (mid to late January). Also, there is lower sun angle as well at that point of time.

MI all time record low was 3 days ago in 1934. Several states have all time record lows in mid/ late FEB. SD/ND and NY come to mind. North Dakota I believe was -60  Feb 15, 1936.

NYC still holds the all-time record set back on Feb 9th,1934 (-15F). Crazy that it still stands tall after all these years.

I've picked up 1.5" in a steady, gentle snow this morning which, sad to say, ties for my second highest total this winter. The temp at my house has shot up to 35F so melting has begun. Sad that the arctic air and wind heading into Nebraska couldn't have made it here sooner...

I think lake enhancement will be our only chance to get to those numbers listed above.

We will see. I kinda like the way the radar looks. Although, yes, LES will definitely add to totals.

I'm almost certain Waterloo's all time record low is -34 and it was set on March 1st.
