Now that's a great outlook!

What's even better is the snow-on-snow without the mixing bs so common all winter. Solid 2-3 inch glacier around here so even if we do 2-3" it will look perhaps the best it has in a month since right after the concrete mixer in Jan. How'd you end up down there?

Have around 4 inches otg, would have had more but the snow stopped for a few hours this afternoon and temps rose.  Expecting another inch or so later this evening before the front dries me out.

Nice score buddy! Does that take you near seasonal avg? It'd be nice to get 4" here which would get me to an avg total for the month of Feb. Have conceded seasonal total will likely be below normal for the first time since 2011-12 (overdue obviously).

Officially 1.1” at ORD...dense and wetter snow...

Yep, pretty much slop except for trees and grass. Makes for some nice scenery though.

I wish there was a way to see how much of our total “winter” snowfall (which gets measured on a snowboard) actually accumulated on pavement and stuck around for greater than 24 hours. Would provide a more accurate depiction of how this winter has truly been. The official snowfall stat as it currently stands would be misleading to anyone who wasn’t present here this winter.

I totally agree with you. The amount of snow ive cleaned up plowing is totally diff than what they said fell. I too look at the snow amounts differently than than what falls on a cold board for measuring snow.

I may not even make 2 inches. Very little moisture to work with this far North. I'm getting pea sized flakes at best. Mere pixie dust atm and a dusting on the ground.

I may not even get an inch, if that. This storm is falling apart. If you look closely at the radar, you will see that.

Tbh, I am looking forward more to the arctic airmass coming w possible hvy snowsqualls that can possibly give my area an inch or 2.

About 1.8" of wet/dense snow on my deck...polar front roaring down the lake with an embedded band of heavier snow...the scene outside looks so picturesque and I can't wait to see what it will look like in the day time.  I'm hoping to squeeze out 1.5" throughout the day as a secondary wave is supposed to develop as the arctic front makes its way into the area.  The radar doesn't look to enthusiastic and the band heading down south may my only bet to score at least another 1" of fluff on top of the wetter/dense snow.

What a neat experience to see the polar front make its way through!  The winds and snow simultaneously increased and it was like a whiteout for a little bit.  Temps are dropping like a rock and the winds are picking up.  It almost felt like something you would see in the summer time when a line of severe thunderstorms comes through.  Pretty awesome I must say.  You could see the sharp contrast of the line of heavier snows laid out across NE IL.

Ended up with .9" officially reported at KDSM. No big deal. What is somewhat surprising is it has gotten colder than forecasted. Forecast was for -7F and latest ob out of KDSM is -9 with winds 32018G26KT which puts the wind chill at -34F. Not bad for only 1" of snow on the ground. If your wondering- not even close to the record low of -26F set in 1905 which is tied for the coldest low in Feb with 1996 and another date in 1905.

*** edit*** just hit -10F at 0645 with WC index of -36F

M1.7" of moist yet fluffy snow this morning on my deck. Noticeably less sitting on paved surfaces. Air was sub-freezing but ground temps aren't. (30-35F)

Just got in from shoveling and taking a walk around the block. Couldn’t help but think “Tom must be in heaven right now”. Certainly one of, if not the most, wintry looking and feeling mornings all season. Enjoy it buddy!

Haha!  Just got back in and making a hot cup of Green tea!  The best winter morning of the season if you account for ALL the variables at play at the moment from mother nature.  Gosh, such a tease and wish it would last all month at least.  How much snow did you get?

One of the best looking scenes of the winter so far. Still looking for the elusive 12"+ storm and hope to see it in the next couple weeks. Next week will probably be one of our better chances if everything lines up just right.

Very tough to tell with all the blowing and drifting, but between 3” and 3.5” seems like a safe bet. Really gorgeous out there right now.

I hear ya, but think with the way this “winter” has gone, 6+ will be the new 12+. If we can score one of those this month, I think you take it and run and then look forward to spring. But for now, enjoy the scenery and brief arctic blast

The wetter snow that stuck to the tree branches makes it so picturesque and then you have the fluffy powder on top is like a cherry on top!  Lovin' it and will enjoy it while it lasts.  I'll prob take it all in again later this evening.
