Just got an update from UW in Seattle... all classes will be done remotely until after spring break which starts in 2 weeks.

Extended -PNA is so hard to come by during winter but fall and spring...No problem!

Might be a drier pattern for us though.

GFS looks nice. Chilly shots, dry pleasant days mixed in. Not bad for March. A little something for everyone.

That is one slow moving front... its in the exact same place as when I went to bed. Stalled right over the Seattle area.

SEA is up .50 now... nice to see rain there since that area was shadowed with the system earlier this week.

Everywhere south of Seattle was.

I was talking regionally not any specific area. I forgot about the snow in Oregon in March 2012...but april 2008 was the most recent example I could remember for late season snow around the whole Puget sound. We had a 1/2” of snow here in March 2012 but I wasn’t sure how widespread that was across western WA.

March 2009 also had lowland snow.

I understand... and Seattle and Tacoma at least are making up for that now.

This was through yesterday... sure would be nice if the wetter than normal area would shift south and it was drier than normal to the north and east of Seattle.     But that does not seem likely... instead we all might be drier than normal going forward.   A blessing up here and a curse elsewhere.

The snow in March 2012 was also in early March...im trying to think of a regional snowfall past March 10th I guess would be the question.

March 16-17, 2002 was pretty regional. Picked up a couple inches here with that in Clark County. Most people  north of Eugene had a dusting to 3".

I cannot even begin to tell you how ready I am to dry out a bit!! Been game on since the new year.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Yeah... that wetter than normal area shown on the March map is the same area that has been perpetually wetter than normal since mid-December.

Nature is a being a real b*tch this year.    <_>

I like how after this little system we will be waiting all the way until Friday for the next one. Aren't we supposed to get more than one system per week this time of year?

SW flow rain has been pretty much shut off since early February. The persistent offshore ridging seems to be blocking it. Persistent offshore ridging and record dry in California... I feel like I’ve seen this before.

Only one notable AR happened this season that I remember and it went into WA and missed OR almost entirely. January was wet but it was mostly just drizzle.

Time to study up on the climate of the upper Sacramento valley.

BTW. People were talking about "what are schools going to do? They cannot just cancel classes for weeks." I was reading during the 1917-18 flu the last 3 months of school in 1918 was canceled in Oregon. Thankfully most students can access online learning now.

My school says there will be online classes if coronavirus causes school to cancel.

The 1918 Spanish Flu was very unusual among diseases because it caused a cytokine storm, causing impacts to be worst in young healthy people with strong immune systems. With coronavirus, the most likely to see serious symptoms are the old and weak.

Yeah, that is a silver lining. I do worry about my Dad though. He is 67, I wish he wold retire. He is a library director, so he has tons of contact with the public.

Education is going to take a hit from this, but by far the biggest impact will be to the economy. Global, national, and local. The stock market is not overreacting.

I totally agree. It is going to HAMMER the travel/tourism sector. I'm hoping to scoop up some cheap flights for my kids coming out here this summer.

How do you think it will impact real estate? I am probably about 1-2 years away from being in a position to pull the trigger on an investment property, and am really envious of where rates are heading right now.
