April 2020 Weather discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

Yeah it's the same thing here in the Plains immediately after the snow melts but before the Spring rains hit.

I'd say it's much more unusual for the PNW this time of year. There was just another brush fire in PDX like yesterday.

As Jim said... its an unusual pattern for April. That is true.

This afternoon was the highest north wind event since I have been at my new location. Branches down will require some clean up tomorrow. Nice day though!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

It was fun here this morning... temp kept getting warmer every time I checked.

Not sure it will happen again tomorrow.

I wish we had more large temp swings more often here...Could end up with a 25-30 degree swing today. Already up to 44 from 34 2 hours ago. The biggest swing I’ve seen in a day personally in Tacoma is a 35 degree change...I know Portland just a few days ago had a 40 degree swing though that’s impressive.

Was still 48 when I went to bed last night, probably due to the wind that was still going pretty strong. 34 for a low this morning however. Currently 43.

Yeah, I was amazed when you posted that it was 49 at your place last night when it was 35 here.  I ended up with a low of 26.6 and looking for another beautiful day.

Euro still paints some precip over the Portland area, especially east county, Wednesday morning. The GFS is dry for the same period.

Euro paints 0.4” over us this run...would be greatly appreciated if it verifies. Would be a 19 day dry streak broken if it rains Saturday.

Yeah. By Saturday and Sunday it has a ULL dropping down over the region and giving us a decent soaking. I won’t buy it until it is within one or two days though.

One bright spot. I notice snow pack is still 103% of average in the Mount Hood area and 102% of average in the Willamette Basin this morning. The relatively cool, clear weather with low dewpoints we've seen recently isn't really a prolific snow melting pattern for the mountains.
