Looking at my April 2018 stats... We had a high of 78 late that month...So I am guessing that was mid-80s in the valley.

Even though March wasn't as dry as February, March still was drier than 2019.

Mid-November through mid-January was my wet weather. I guess it's a little different in parts of Washington last few weeks.

I had an 82 on 04/26 but literally 2 days later I had a high of 47, a thunderstorm and 1/2" diameter hail. lol

Overall I wouldn't really consider April 2018 a warm month, despite that mini heat wave. Quite a few days that month were 10-15 below average high.

OT: but I got into Whitman College (it's actually quite a good school out in Eastern Washington), but there's no way I can afford the tuition haha. Shame, I quite like it.

Looks like anything even resembling a seasonably cool airmass keeps a safe distance through hour 192 on the Euro.

Whew...I was sweating bullets!

It’s just an MJO wave, dude. No need for alarm.

Convection is shifting into the Western Hemisphere for a little while. https://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/precip/CWlink/MJO/CLIVAR/clivar_wh.shtml

I've been paying attention to MJO recently and I think I'm starting to get it. Do I just align the MJO phase on the graph with the temperature composites?

Yeah, if you can get a temp composite for a specific season/trimonthly period.

Also those CPC phase diagrams are unfiltered, so there can be contamination from stagnant low pass ENSO forcing and higher frequency CCKW which may not have the same relationship to ET wavetrains/etc. But they’re sufficient for the most part.

Tomorrow in 2012 I wake up to 2" inches of snow. So far that one and the 04/12/2017 (1.5") events are my biggest April snows.

With the right setups shouldn't be that impossible to beat right?

Hope, BC is near sea level and on the west side of the mountains and looks set to beat that tonight, so I would say that it’s easily possible to beat that in K Falls.

We haven’t had any rain in 5 days here...no rain on the gfs until April 13th. Looks like we’re set up for another lengthy dry streak here in Tacoma. Would be a 15 day streak if it verifies.
