96 for a high. Already a hotter day than all last year (94) and it's only June. Maybe I'm due for a 100 this year, haven't seen one since 07/02/2013 when it reached 101.

EUG got like 5-7" in early Jan 2017 too. Was even better down in Douglas County. I have a feeling this coming winter we are gonna get smacked with a 1990-style Arctic front all the way down to Medford, with more banding, too.

Sweet. The UofO? It'll snow here this winter. If not, I'm sure TWL has a ziplock bag of snow in his freezer from Feb 2019 that he'll share with you.

A bit more than that, but neither significant snowfalls lasted for shitt. They were mainly 1 day wonders. Definitely no arctic blasts.

Nope, lots of Cross-Cascade Gradient and backdoor action with that winter.

It's also the last time EUG had a sub-freezing high. Jan 14, 2017.

Looks like a parade of Upper Level Lows will continue to clip Washington from the north for the foreseeable future.

When Tim says we are stuck in a rut, you can't argue with that.

Hopefully one of those lows will clip us on the 2nd or 3rd and skeee daddle by the 4th.

January 10-11, 2017 all over again but more widespread.

Despite how much an anomaly Feb 2019 was, I did not have a single storm as big as Jan 3-4 2017 here. That was like mega. lol

And I still can't believe how consistent 16-17 was regionally, because Portland's storm was a week after mine.

There hasn't been a thunderstorm in the 4.5 years I've lived here (although I think one hit while I was away in May 2017 because I remember reading about someone getting hit by lightning and thinking how incredibly unlucky they must have been for that to happen in a place like this). Our local tornado count exceeds our local thunderstrom count this year. It'd be nice to see tomorrow's rain event overperform for a change.

In Feb 2019 it was more an even distribution of snowfall for me over the course of the month. But places like Central OR, Tacoma WA, Roseburg and even Redding had storms dropping significant snow at one time. Someone that used to frequent one of the facebook groups who lives I think just south of Bend, reported he had >2 foot depths at his place. Unreal. My max depth in 2019 was 9.5".

That was a wild month. Max depth was 20” on 2/11. 22 total inches that month. First storm on 2/4 only gave us 2”...but we picked up 9.0” on 2/8-2/9 and 5” of snow in just 2 hours on 2/10. Then 6” in the overrunning event on 2/11. Craziest winter weather I’ve seen in my lifetime.

If you're counting the whole PNW not really. There can be days where thunderstorms cover the stretch of a region and 2 or 3 funnels, perhaps 2 tornadoes result from it.

And keep in mind May 30th was about as good as a northwest storm outbreak gets. That was a BIG one.

Probably the best we can hope for around the 4th... a baggy trough offshore.    Its matches what the ensembles have been showing and it still results in dry, mild weather.

Hey. I resemble that remark!

Still 76 here at 10 p.m.

Anyone that has been here as long as you is no longer a Californian. BTW, I grew up on Spring Blvd off 30th, so not too far away. The extra elevation is a good friend.

I guess more accurately, I've never experienced one since I've moved here. There wasn't any lightning on the tornado day, just brief periods of heavy rain. I'm unaware of any actual thunderstorm in this area since May 2017.

Definitely not the case in the PNW in general, the tornado thing here was very localized and a bit of a fluke event. The May 30th event completely missed this area, I just found it a funny statistic that there have been more storms capable of producing tornados that thunderstorms in the Victoria-area over the past couple years. I'm pretty sure the long term averages still favor thunderstorms.
