Dave
Hey. I resemble that remark! Still 76 here at 10 p.m.Anyone that has been here as long as you is no longer a Californian. BTW, I grew up on Spring Blvd off 30th, so not too far away. The extra elevation is a good friend.
VancouverIslandSouth
So.. there has been a thunder storm since you lived there, more than once actually. I guess more accurately, I've never experienced one since I've moved here. There wasn't any lightning on the tornado day, just brief periods of heavy rain. I'm unaware of any actual thunderstorm in this area since May 2017.
VancouverIslandSouth
If you're counting the whole PNW not really. There can be days where thunderstorms cover the stretch of a region and 2 or 3 funnels, perhaps 2 tornadoes result from it. And keep in mind May 30th was about as good as a northwest storm outbreak gets. That was a BIG one. Definitely not the case in the PNW in general, the tornado thing here was very localized and a bit of a fluke event. The May 30th event completely missed this area, I just found it a funny statistic that there have been more storms capable of producing tornados that thunderstorms in the Victoria-area over the past couple years. I'm pretty sure the long term averages still favor thunderstorms.
