June 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

His area is well above normal for June.

Ironically... my area is pretty close to average. This map is misleading because the Seattle area is now well above normal including SEA and WFO SEA. This is because it includes stations with partial and spotty data in the Seattle area and the South Sound.

Yikes, didn't know it was that dry this month just east of the Cascades.

It's a small departure from normal though since it does not rain much normally in June there.

Should finish warmer than normal in Portland for June. The hotter weather recently prevented a cool month

Should end up around normal. There were a couple very hot days and lots of moderately cool days which balanced them out. Overall an enjoyable and dynamic month heh

Can't wait until Tim's first EURO snow maps start showing up in November haha. Feelings don't mean too much in terms of weather but I feel good about this coming winter.

Onshore flow increasing now as storm from the weekend begins to move back north and give us another 3 days of clouds and chilly weather.

Honestly I can’t wait for winter. This spring and summer has been just about completely devoid of interesting weather in this area. Can’t even score a red line on radar moving up through the valley this year.

Off-topic: have any of you been to the Alvord Desert? Been looking to go down there to Steens Mountain-- I've heard it's gorgeous.

I gotta say, it was a good day.

It was! It's a nice pattern we're in-- persistent but quite pleasant.

I’ve heard the same, but have never been. We are actually considering heading down there next month.

I guess they are about to finish plowing the road to the summit. The BLM posted some pretty wintery looking pictures from over the weekend as they were plowing the last several miles, looks like there was quite a bit of new snow up there on Sunday.

Close, been to Malheur NWR. Was not quite the lush marshy oasis in the desert I had pictured in my mind’s eye. Utah’s Cache Valley (where I went to college) still holds that prize in my book.

Amazing dark-sky star-gazing, however. And some beautiful obsidian to be found at Glass Butte, just off US.20.

0.10” of rain this morning. About twice as much as we got over the weekend.

I’ve likewise added .02” today but have kicked your buttocks with a monthly total so far of 5.05”!

Wow you really pulled away from me this month!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Definitely the kind of morning worth fretting over on the 240 hour models today.

As usual... the details of the patterns in the summer matter way more up here than down there in terms of tangible weather.     Just the way it is.

Sort of like how easy it is for my area to get snow in the winter while you guys have to fret model details at 240 hours out.

It's definitely rained more here this month than it has in the Central Sound.
