June 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

I think this area is sitting close to average for the month (areas that got lucky with convective showers might be in better shape). Being right at average when you're about to enter a dry phase isn't a good sign for summer drought.

Yeah not looking good at all up there.

That sounds like climo to me.

The EPS is still very much on board with troughing developing in the 6-10 day range. It has certainly backed off from the quicker onset as early as this Thursday/Friday though, like the operational runs. Those days are looking fairly warm to hot now.

I'm pretty pumped about the coming Nina. The past 3 winters have been relatively dull, and we are coming off an all-time dud in W. Oregon.

For how crappy I thought today was going to be...It has actually been dry since I woke up and it’s a nice temp. Perfect for washing the truck and waxing the jetski...Just need some sun now!

Turned out to be a nice day. Around a tenth of an inch of rain and high in the low 60s. Outside doing yard work now. Very pleasant.

72F with some rain. This is the kind of rain I tell my kids that we used to have in the summer.

Yeah the south valley paid bigly for 2-25-19 last "winter" oof. Not a single day with a high temp below 40F in the meteorological winter. One of only 2 times it has happened, the other instance being the brutally boring 1933-34 disaster.

2019 did have one high below 40F on Nov 30, and that was the only one. 1933 had 2 sub-40 highs in late November, beating out 19-20.

All-time dud indeed, for this part of the PNW. We are way over doo for some Dec-Jan action.

No! How will this affect the Winthrop area? Hopefully not too much...

But it does show a warm up for the holiday weekend... but that won't happen of course.

2 years ago this evening was probably one of the top 5 sunsets I've seen in Klamath Falls. Completely golden sky for a few moments, towards the end a bit of pink blended in. T'storms in the area are to thank for this one. This year we might not get any more storms in June, I think July/August gives me some action.

You’ll be ok. I had some fieldwork on Mt. Adams earlier this week. Camped at the 4,600’ ft level and it was in the upper 30s a few of the mornings. Luckily I left my tutu and tiara at home so I was just fine.

EUG shows a trace. Seemed like maybe a few hundredths of an inch or so here (I'm too poor to get a PWS to know for sure)

Great day for the 1st day of our golf tournament, just a bit of drizzle a few times and any real rain held off until well after all 60 of us completed our rounds.

Your Birthday gift...A dry round!

Looks like benign weather in the intermountain west next week/weekend.

Taking my youngest to Ft. Collins, CO to visit her first choice school at CSU. Also meeting my oldest there as she is coming home from Omaha until (if) UW starts in the fall.

I have only been through there once. Anybody have any must see's or any restrictions in CO we should know about?

We will be detouring through Jackson, WY on the way home and stocking up on fireworks!

Anybody want anything!!!
