Oh boy...Uncovered for the first time since September of 2019...It will be ready for the first day of summer...July 5th.

Currently dribbles and cold. Someone needs to turn the heat on.

C’MON summer.

Not in sight.

I was reading through the July 2012 thread and it was interesting to see everyone was cheering for summer and thought cold rain at this time of year was pretty miserable.

Absolutely!

Gotta embrace what we can't control.

This past week was actually not too bad here either.    Another cold and wet weekend is disappointing though.    And likely another one ahead after this one.

C’MON summer.

It's coming! The first week of June is rarely representative of what's coming in July or even in the last week of June.

It’s been partly sunny and highs in the mid 60s the last week. Comfortable beautiful weather. Mostly cloudy and 57 currently showers haven’t moved up into the central sound yet.

I didn't mind June/July 2012 at all in Beaverton. It seemed to have some of everything. Some say June was really wet and cloudy, but I recall not hating June that year. It had a lot of partly sunny afternoons despite the fact that it may have been wetter than average.

Late Spring 2010 going into summer was a lot cooler. And I assume 2011 was just flat out bad.

1.4F here but on the negative side.

This spring has felt a little more normal than some recent years.

we had 4.25” of rain all of last spring...8.79” this spring double the rainfall. Definitely felt a lot more like a normal spring besides the 19 day dry streak here in April.

Locally 41 for a low isn't overly cold for early June, but that will change tomorrow AM as I could get really close to freezing, and even a slight chance of seeing some snow. Most likely a trace to ~0.10" though.

Nice and kind of crisp morning. I guess crisp by PacNW summer standards. Just thinking yesterday that I kind of miss the heat and humidity of the East Coast.

I just want you to know that you have possibly suffered a brain injury. It is not possible to enjoy heat or humidity and certainly not both. Ask Phil!

Nah, a hot and humid day brings about usually a pleasant evening filled with fireflies, nocturnal storms, and a nice cold beer. Some of my best memories of PA will be looking out my window and marveling at those towering thunderheads that were a 100 miles away, filled with flashes of white and purple.

The storms are really enjoyable when half-loaded on drinks. I've done a couple of my youtube videos after having some red wine. Good memories. ;)

I never get completely smashed though, I can still have conversations without sounding slurred. lol

Nothing like waking up to very heavy rain on a Saturday morning.

Maybe one day I'll wake up to sunny skies and warm temps on the weekend... A man can dream.

Still some hope for July.

We should be so lucky.

Dude, do you even realize how ridiculously warm every summer has been lately? The last several have basically been unprecedented for this area. You are acting like it’s been the complete opposite.

Even this spring was unusually sunny and dry. Maybe try being as stoic about a fairly normal early June trough as you are about a global pandemic.

There is nothing unusual about this June.

Normal June can just be a disappointing month for people waiting for real summer. Its not the way it works in the PNW in many years.

How does that compare to other gauges in the area?

Hillsboro was actually 57% of average for spring using 1991-20 averages. The 54% is using the entire POR.

PDX got 5.43" which is 59% of average. McMinnville got 6.28" which is 75% of average. Aurora Airport got 6.67" which is 67% of the 1998-20 average (no data exists before 1998).

Hillsboro is normally the driest place in the Willamette Valley. It's actually quite similar to your area, it gets little precipitation in NW flow because of rainshadowing mountains to the west. This spring HIO was the driest place in Western Oregon that I know of north of the Rogue Valley.

For May only, you actually have to go all the way down to Red Bluff, CA to find anything drier west of the mountains (although that was mostly just rotten luck and southern OR got very lucky).
