June (July) 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

So how many weeks are left until it turns constantly gray and rainy every single day for the next 10-11 months?

To be fair last winter didn’t seem terribly gray down here... perhaps I’m blocking it out of my memory?

Sorry for the forecast?

80 at 1pm is usually a decent sign this time of year. Upper airmass is warm enough to support it too. Just a guess. Time will tell!

Calling it likely is an anxious stretch. The numbers suggest upper 80’s. If we’d maintained the brief downslope assist we had this morning it would be a cinch, but if that were the case we would have seen H8 temps up around 20c.

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

So how many weeks are left until it turns constantly gray and rainy every single day for the next 10-11 months?

This past Jan was our second-warmest on record and we were below normal precip. It was regularly gray but also regularly felt like June. I smoked outside in a t-shirt and shorts on multiple occasions. Easily the worst January of my life weather-wise.

Someone definitely woke up on the wrong side of the downslope. I guess we’ll see.

A horrible January. Though we did manage a decent amount of snow. I enjoyed both February and March. They were mostly sunny and seasonably cool.

January was our only wetter than normal month this winter. It had a two to three week period of some good snowpack building with a persistent trough dropping in NW from Alaska. I do think that made it favor the northern areas, though.

85 here... 5 degrees cooler than DC. Have not heard anyone complaining.

Passed my son (on the left) and some friends paddle boarding.

There were legit Arctic temperatures in many places north of the King/Snohomish line IIRC. The pictures in Bellingham and Lynden with the Fraser outflow looked like North Dakota.

January 12 there was a great storm in the Cascades that I got to ski in. Nor’easter type weather with insane snow rates and 65 MPH wind gusts. They had to close the lifts down early. Can’t say I have many good things to say about the rest of that January down in my location though.

Lol!! Crazy thing to say! What would the world's food supply look like without a growing season??!

Yeah... he is just being silly as usual.

Ski bowl wasn't able to open until we got those January storms and snowpack was very low at that point. IIRC we were still shy of normal snowpack when that pattern was winding down. We're lucky we got those storms, though.

I had 18 degree heavy snow one morning during that event while it was in the 40’s south of Seattle...Good times!

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

We had a high of 50F on the 12th.  Boy howdy it's a good thing we had 2-25-19 because this was the shittiest location for 19-20.
