Jesse
Just kind of a transitory quick-hitter. Makes sense that there would be a brief window where East side surface pressures would have the potential to spike. It’s kind of a roided up version of 7-10-08.I was just thinking every summer it seems like there is some sort of heat event that is more reminiscent of the shoulder season, so it’s probably a fairly normal setup for mid summer too, even if not as frequent. SilverFallsAndrew
Tim mentioned that we had more than him that winter. That's gotta be about a 1 in 100 winter season. He probably averages 40" or more per year up there. Though, you might avg more than that at your location. I'm not gonna google myself to death, but I read a source that Detroit averages about 65" per year, which probably is more than you, but a comparable analog. It’s hard to tell from the historical average at Silver Falls because there is so much missing data. I think our average is around 35-45”. Detroit definitely gets more snow than us despite a similar elevation. Cold air gets trapped in the Santiam River canyon and they do much better in marginal situations. It seems like Tim gets more snow than here. But it’s hard to tell since he doesn’t keep track of how much he gets. There have been several years we had significantly more, but then there have also been a couple years where it seems like he had a lot of snow and we don’t have much at all. I think he had more than us last winter. 1 Quote Snowfall Precip 2022-23: 95.0" 2022-23: 17.39" 2021-22: 52.6" 2021-22: 91.46" 2020-21: 12.0" 2020-21: 71.59" 2019-20: 23.5" 2019-20: 58.54" 2018-19: 63.5" 2018-19: 66.33" 2017-18: 30.3" 2017-18: 59.83" 2016-17: 49.2" 2016-17: 97.58" 2015-16: 11.75" 2015-16: 68.67" 2014-15: 3.5" 2013-14: 11.75" 2013-14: 62.30 2012-13: 16.75" 2012-13: 78.45 2011-12: 98.5" 2011-12: 92.67" It's always sunny at Winters Hill!
