Tomorrow should be our 5th consecutive day in the 80s. Interestingly enough I looked back at last summer and we only managed 3 80+ days in a row once in early August. Overall this summers been pretty nice can’t complain too much. I am hoping for a bit of rain at some point...early next week looks like a pretty weak front. Probably will be waiting atleast a couple weeks longer for a decent soaking or more.

I too have always understood a “heatwave” to be 3 straight of 90+.

AKA: not physically possible during a nina summer.

I've always considered that as well. Unfortunately, down here in Redding, OR, it's becoming quite the norm. At least we supposedly have Feb 2019 to remember the good days.

I remember seeing it on one of Mark's weather blogs, don't know where the exact definition came from. The 3 straight days of at least 90 degree highs. I definitely think what we are experiencing this week is a heatwave.

I take offense to that criteria. We’ve only had 2 days *below* 90°F since June 26.

Unless summer is a perpetual heatwave, that criteria needs to be amended.

Phil’s been pretty quiet. Maybe Jesse and him are camping together

Only 82 here today. ‘Twas a nice day.

3 posts in 24hrs is quiet by my standards, I guess.

criteria should probably vary depending on location. It hasn’t hit 90F here in 2 years. Vancouver YVR hasn’t topped 30C is something like 10 years.

Low of 59 this morning. Sky has an unstable look to it this morning...hopeful for some thunderstorm activity to spill out of the cascades this afternoon but not counting on anything. Wouldn’t surprise me if we did see some lightning to the east of here tonight though.

I wouldn't get too excited,

Despite steep LR's and good MUCAPE, there is just very little in the way of moisture associated with the downstream trough to really do much.

I would like to see a bit more tilt NNW in this type of setup, even then, any activity would likely be pushed E/NE.

I’ll be watching but not really anticipating anything. Haven’t had any thunderstorm activity since late May...hoping for another amazing convective late summer early fall like last year.

I can hear the JBLM booms from all the way over here in gig harbor. Also it’s hotter than yesterday at this time...up to 72 at home.

It's already hot as fudge out. The NWS prediction of 92 is outta here. If there's no marine push this afternoon, 100 is on the table.

Yeah the forecast discussion for the south valley is a joke, I laughed reading the bush league one from 8PM yesterday.  To them up in the Parkrose area, we may as well be Siberia down here, where the river valley comes from.

Up to 86F. Some 5 degrees warmer than this time yesterday. They made a soft Price Is Right bet.

I can’t believe we’ve had one week of summer and some people are already yearning for a fall like clipper. Get the F outa here!

There’s been plenty of nice weather since late June. There will be more nice weather next month. “1 week of summer” so far is a massive understatement.

Its been close to climo this summer so far up here.   Just slightly cooler than normal in most places... but a pretty typical summer overall.

What is it, 5 consecutive days we’re going to have over 90F down here? I feel like that’s somewhat unusual historically but maybe that’s confirmation bias.

It is, but not unusual in our modern climate.
