June (July) 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Probably only about 10 degrees above the NW horizon, I just went out and checked again and can't see it anymore. It looks like it will get higher in the horizon up to July 23rd so should be plenty more viewing opportunities.

 

 

I'll definitely be able to see that from MBY in a few days.  I can tell by the position of the Big Dipper.

I am going up to Baker this weekend with A buddy of mine who is an amazing astrophotographer to get some shots with it.  Sounds like we should be able to get the MIlky Way as well.  This is something I've never done before but have always wanted to do, so I'm pretty excited (even bought a new lens for the occasion) get to go up with a "pro".  At this point looks like the weather should cooperate for us.

Yes... that would be great.    But it will probably back down even more.   Best to have it show solid ridging so when it inevitably backs off the result is still perfect weather.

Another beautiful blue day in Everett with temps in the low 70ºs. I am starting to think that I need to get a weather station to record some of the unique bits of my microclimate.

 

So far I've noticed that there seems to be a regular evening breeze coming right through the valley to the sound. I figure this place, all though only a dozen or so feet above sea level, might be fairly interesting for snow and wind events as its set back and sheltered from the water.

You'd love it here. Even less rain and the surface winds almost always come in from the west with upsloping in Gorge-effect, northerly winds, south (up) into the Willamette Valley and into the McKenzie Valley. Except in CCG events where it comes down the river.
