Tim mentioned that we had more than him that winter. That's gotta be about a 1 in 100 winter season. He probably averages 40" or more per year up there.

Though, you might avg more than that at your location. I'm not gonna google myself to death, but I read a source that Detroit averages about 65" per year, which probably is more than you, but a comparable analog.

It’s hard to tell from the historical average at Silver Falls because there is so much missing data. I think our average is around 35-45”. Detroit definitely gets more snow than us despite a similar elevation. Cold air gets trapped in the Santiam River canyon and they do much better in marginal situations.

It seems like Tim gets more snow than here. But it’s hard to tell since he doesn’t keep track of how much he gets. There have been several years we had significantly more, but then there have also been a couple years where it seems like he had a lot of snow and we don’t have much at all. I think he had more than us last winter.

The mopey posts on here this morning about a typical summer warm spell during the warmest part of the year sound like the mopey posts on here about typical drizzly marine layer days in the summer.

Funny how that works. Everyone wants what they want.

I was just thinking every summer it seems like there is some sort of heat event that is more reminiscent of the shoulder season, so it’s probably a fairly normal setup for mid summer too, even if not as frequent.

Phil says there’s nothing normal about this kind of weather.

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

Too bad you can’t see me wearing my sequined Speedo’s, bare chested with my Davy Crockett hat while clicking my castanets in celebration of my record breaking 10th sub-50 low this month! Yep, a 47F over performance. Thank you.

82 on Lake Sammamish with a decent north wind. Perfect out here.

Just a bit crazy at the launch. Boat trailer parking lot was full at 11:30. I scored the last grass spot on the side of the road coming in... or I would have a nice 1 mile hike from the Microsoft complex parking lot.

Been out here on the Coast all day so missing out on the heat in the Valley but I'll get to experience it tomorrow. Looks like PDX got to 100 today.

I didn’t expect PDX to hit 100°F. Must’ve been some serious compressional heating with the RH at 11-13% for awhile there.

97 with east winds at PDX. Goes to Jesse's point of this being a bit of a late summer/early fall type of heat setup, usually the downslope winds at this time of year don't quite reach the surface at the airport.

That was just moping. :(

Glad to see PDX officially hit 100 today. Always nice to get that monkey off our backs, and during the warmest time of year no less.

98/53 spread here. Quite the diurnal range.
