June (July) 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

I’ve noticed for a couple years the Newport station always runs cold, even in the winter.

I went to a house party in Gresham, it was hot as **** and the house had no AC. They ran out of beer, but I had some warm beer out in my cooler floating in warm water with a dead rattlesnake. Didn’t tell anyone about the snake.

A lot of rattlesnakes met their end that weekend.

My preferences can beat up your preferences’ dad.

We got him on Hwy 26 just after sunset near Spray in Eastern Oregon.

I had a close encounter with one when I was living in Pateros. If asked, I wouldn’t lie and deny I may have peed a little.

We ran into several while backpacking Hell’s Canyon in 2007. Honestly surprised none of us were bitten given how tall the grass was on some of the overgrown trails.

The trail up the Blitzen from Page Springs has quite a few.

Wet deck. 53 degrees. Heat is on.

More rain for you tomorrow as well... then summery weather should return.

You might make a run at 80 by Sunday!   Probably 90 here.

Randy reported his conditions.   53 degrees and drizzle is what is actually happening there.    I told him it should be close to 80 up there by Sunday.   Its not very summery there today but it will be by the weekend.    Nothing that was said was incorrect.

And nothing was said about your area... or Oregon at all.   Or about regional July stats.    And nobody said this was an unusual July.

Thanks for chiming in though!

Do you normally use the heat year round. What are the average lows around now, 54 or 55F.

Our furnace does not usually kick on at all from July-Sept.

How many warmer than average JJA months in last five years for Seattle and Portland? How many cooler than average?

Probably pretty close to 15:0.

Mossman DID have to turn his heat on again this morning though, so there’s that.

57 with clouds and occasional mist here. Summer is ruined.

Even a warmer than normal July can still be chilly and damp at times... particularly to the north and east of Seattle.

It really bothers a certain someone when Randy reports what is actually happening there.    I guess Randy needs to be excited about 53-degree drizzle and the furnace running... then his comments would not be ridiculed.    It comes down to the "right" weather preferences again... and that is the most the important thing to Jesse!

This is the first summer in a while that we will sometimes turn on the heat in the morning just to take the chill off. We moved my mom in a while back and she just had a hip replacement done so been trying to keep the house not too chilly and not too warm for her.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

PDX scored a -0.1 departure in July 2016.

June 2020 was the coolest summer month at PDX relative to average since that time, with a +0.6 departure.

Pretty normal July... could be much worse.   Last July was actually much worse up here in terms of days with rain.

Yeah, the -0.1 in July 2016 came to mind. Unlikely we are able to beat that this month.

I just can't believe Randy's house is so poorly insulated he has to use the heat because the temperature briefly dips into the 50s.
