June (July) 2020 Weather Discussion for the PNW

Recommended Posts

Its getting brighter here now.

I really need Jesse and Phil to tell me exactly how I should feel about every single day.

I want to make sure my feelings are precisely in line with their feelings.    Its very important.    Different opinions would be horrible.

Wet deck. 53 degrees. Heat is on.

Whaaaaat, because it's 53 degrees first thing in the morning?? Does your house have insulation?? We haven't run our heat since April and regularly dropped into the 20's in May with highs in the low 40's with an average temp of 49F.

We have 4 inch foam insulation but still, it sure sounds like your house is losing way too much heat. Maybe time for some new windows??

Tim needs some sort of daily weather "win-loss" criteria relative to the time of year.

I'd love to see his subjective yearly record thus far. I'd venture it'd be about .500

Mossman needs to share his heat loss secret. Some of us could really stand to benefit.

I mean I guess it's nice in July/August but his heat bill must be through the roof Nov-Mar.

Yeah...I think his house is broken. Or doesn't own a sweatshirt.

But Jesse needs to tell me how to feel. I have no feelings about anything unless he instructs me.

It’s PDX. Give it another decade and the average low in July and August will probably be above 60.

UHI plays a factor there, but our summer lows have gotten warmer across the board, even at rural stations. They are just a canary in the coal mine and show the most exaggerated effects early on.

At Snoqualmie Falls this year is at 115 out of 204 days with at least 0.01” rain so far. You can go from there.

About normal.   I do love our normal 50% of the days without rain.     :)

But that is just my opinion.

I can see the lower cloud deck over Livingston Montana to the east.

It was nice while it lasted.

He can help you break down the performance and how to refine one's weather preferences after the L.

Marine layer thickened again :(

63*

Going to be a very slow clearing process today... but the 12Z ECMWF shows less low clouds tomorrow and then very little in the way of low clouds for the rest of the run except for next Thursday morning.

I run the A/C in the evening and at night to keep the temp at 66, then on these chilly mornings I bump the heat on to 68-69 to take the chill off. It stays near 70 in the house most of the day from there but it does creep up to about 74 with nothing running. The house is actually very well insulated but It’s all about preferences with temps. Have A/C and heat with a very energy efficient Geothermal system so we can keep things tweaked to exactly how we like the house.

You would have made a great pioneer.

Absolutely when I was younger. Now...I like comfort. I’m old.

45 ain’t old. Most people don’t have the luxury of retiring at 40 after working at a marginally difficult job for just ten years anyway.

My dad is almost 60 and has worked a hard manual job since he was 18 that has messed up his back and hands. Still loves camping and the outdoors...in all weather.
