Trades are raging. Should produce a new upwelling wave soon enough.

Going to be a very slow clearing process today... but the 12Z ECMWF shows less low clouds tomorrow and then very little in the way of low clouds for the rest of the run except for next Thursday morning.

I had high hopes when things were breaking up earlier in the morning and blue was appearing.  Denied Sun the rest of the day.

Had a high of 66*

Coyotes are very active tonight and in my woods right next to the house so close that I can see them as I shine the flashlight into the woods...My Border Collies who they think are hot stuff want to go out and get them. Looks like it’s going to be on leash potty before bed tonight! The Coyotes must be enjoying the cool weather and the thousands of bunnies that are out there.

According to Andy in Woodinville on Facebook there is a wildfire starting up in NE Wa near Snowmizer’s place.

ECMWF shows strong onshore downsloping winds east of the Cascades due to the trough moving through tonight and tomorrow. Pretty typical set up for fires in eastern WA during the second half of summer. Happens pretty much every year. Calmer conditions will arrive tomorrow night.

00z Euro is now out through hour 96. No real changes so far, Sunday and Monday still look like scorchers. Will be interested to see where it goes later next week.

Suspense builds.

Looks like we could get our first meaningful rainfall next weekend if the gfs and euro are right. Sitting at 0.37” this month. Would be nice to get some actual rain after this mini heat wave passes. Still have only hit 81 this summer...and only 2 80+ days this summer so far (4 if you include May 9th and 10th).

Only three 90+ days here at this point in the summer which is heavenly compared to some recent years. A lot of highs in the 80s though, I haven’t counted. My guess would be 15-20 so far, so nothing outlandish compared to nightmares like 2015.

I think most places around the Seattle area have hit 80 atleast a few times this summer and have hit 85 atleast as well. My little microclimate isn’t really representative of most of western WA. Overall pretty pleasant though...this summer and last summer have been pretty nice.

I counted. Looks like I’ve seen 19 80+ days so far, so that was a decent guess. That’s including May though, pull the five in May out and it’s 14.

Good chance I double or even triple that 19 for the year by the time 80+ season ends in October, though.

12Z GFS is pretty nice... delays the trough compared to the 00Z run and then shows some rain on Thursday followed by another beautiful weekend.

That’s crazy how different our locations are. Ive had some years where we only got to 80 like 10 times. Only hit 80 9 times in the whole summer of 2011. Most I’ve ever had was 40 in 2015. Average is around 15-20 it seems...last year had 14. 2018 and 2017 had 29 and 25.
