Does anyone know if there are any wildfires in the north Cascades region? I'm near Winthrop and it's awfully hazy right now. Yikes. Hope there aren't any fires near me.

Fires in Siberia... probably won't make it there.     ;)

Nice to have another early summer without smoke in southern OR but it's probably going to start in late July like it did last year.

Sometimes it starts the first day of August.

Dry deck here... for now.

Nice ray of sun! Miserable here. Lots of grumbling at work this morning about this way too persistent pattern.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

I thought at least seeing a little sun in a picture might brighten your day.   I am sure it will be dark again soon here.

12Z GFS does show a decent afternoon for the Seattle area today... a little warmer than the 00Z run.      Pretty miserable north of Everett though.

If I didn’t have responsibilities that will keep me close to home this weekend I would already be sitting on the deck of my uncles summer place over at Lake Entiat.

12Z GFS for Sunday... still looking like the best day of the holiday weekend.    I would say that the "summer starts on July 5th" mantra was right on this year but that would be ignoring the fact that most of next week is looking cloudy and damp.

After high school I couldn’t wait to live on my own so I rented an apartment with a friend. Didn’t know it was in a bad neighborhood, guns would go off in the middle of the night. Couldn’t wait for the lease to end

That sucks. Sorry to hear that man.

Wow hard to believe it’s July looking at the gfs. We had a 64/53 spread on 7/1 and a 64/54 spread yesterday. Low of 55 this morning...have had a tiny bit of drizzle but nothing measurable.

Looks wet up north of Seattle but we’ve still only had 0.01” so far this month here. It’s been more sunny down here too the past few days was a pretty nice evening after the clouds burned off. Looks like the cool early summer weather will continue on for now too.

July has been consistent though.  The only inconsistency is that July started out as June but then again they both start with “J”

12Z GFS actually shows some warmer weather starting in just over a week... that is an improvement over some of its previous runs.

Seems like the past 3 days have been similar...morning drizzle and some afternoon/evening sunbreaks. Here in the south sound it’s been really nice!

Yay!!!!!!!!!!!! Finally.

There have actually been a lot of runs lately that have tried to get some warmth building in the long range. But it seems to get watered down as it approaches. Although I realize we can’t get that lucky forever.

The 00Z GFS was pretty much wall-to-wall anomalously cold troughing... so its nice to see the 12Z GFS has backed off a little.

Tim shouldn’t you be getting ready for superspreader activities. Typical American mindset. 4th of July, we cannot stay home, muh freedom!

That’s an outlier solution, though.

Most guidance (model + analog) favors the 4CH/GOA low pattern (which can trend warm). That type of warm up would be favored during the 3rd week of the month, IMO.

Side note for Andrew... when we leave home we are planning on organizing a party with at least a hundred strangers in a small enclosed area and also hosting a few choir events.    Go super-spreader big or go home!

So stupid.

Only fireworks this year will be the ones that people shoot from their neighborhoods. They are illegal in most of California, but it doesn't stop the stupid people from making a few loud booms and making my dog go nuts.

When I went to buy my fireworks the other day they were sold out of the ones I wanted so I had to go to another stand. Turns out firework sales are through the roof right now and the best they have ever been in history due to the Coronavirus. All the public firework shows are cancelled so people are buying extra fireworks this year. I'm expecting tomorrow night to be wild and the loudest it's ever been in my neighborhood for an Independence Day.

Definitely seems like the gfs has a pretty significant warm bias past 7 days. IIRC it was a similar story last year. Several times it showed significant heat but it just kept getting watered down and we ended up not having much major heat besides in mid June of last summer. We only had 2 days 85+ here at this location last summer.

A warm and bright 57F here. A bit of drizzle but overall the best day so far this month. Excited over the prospect of actually seeing the sun tomorrow and, or, Sunday.

Still dark and spitting here.
