Looks like a spectacular Labor Day here while its snowing in Bozeman.  :)

Accounting for the ECMWF cool bias... this is low 80s for the Seattle area which ironically is about the same as it was showing on the runs that had a hot air mass over us.

Probably because of the ripping downsloping.

Progress is progress! I like the odds out there, especially with the solar cycle/IPWP response stacking the deck in favor of a multiyear niña and PMM/PDO flip to negative through the early 2020s.

You can clearly see the -PDO/-PMM structure developing with the consolidation of +SSTAs/OHC over the Maritime Continent (equatorial portion of IPWP consolidating and retracting westward).

By the end of winter, we should have a mature, fully established -PDO/-PMM look, unless something bizarre and climatologically anomalous happens.

Did we really have our coolest summer in 8 years down here in this part of the PNW?

All I know is lower tropospheric temperatures in JJA were cooler than both 2016 and 2019. Similar to 2012.

Still nothing like 2011, though.

66 here with a very light drizzle in the area.

77 and sunny now in North Bend... 75 at SEA.

Surprisingly warm given how cool and cloudy it is just to the north.

I did a web cam tour of Northern California to see what is heading our way... it does not look too bad down there.    Hopefully it will just be elevated haze up here.

Beautiful country up there....I just sent a text to my son making sure he watches the weather closely as I am sure he will be headed for the hills this weekend to either hike or rock climb.  This is his first summer really getting out and exploring after getting a car last winter.  He got caught up in a bad thunderstorm while on a section of Bridger Ridge trail earlier this summer.  He didn't really give the weather much of a look before they left.  They saw the storm in the distance but thought it was not coming their direction.  They ended up having the edge of it pass over them, and they were caught out in the open....scared him pretty good.

94 out, but honestly it doesn't feel all that hot to me. Must be the low sun angle and the steady breeze.

95F over here and it definitely won't feel as oppressive because of the shorter days.

Yeah the summer storms can really catch you off guard if you're not careful here. This year was a little quieter than the last few summers but we still had a few strong severe storms pass through!

I was in Aspen last year in early October. The fall colors were gorgeous, especially at the Bells. It snowed the day after I left. Going to Colorado again later this month, the maps are showing snow the day before I arrive.

We have only gone during January and twice stayed at Buttermilk. I need to go during the fall someday.
