That is unbelievable improvement!

Nice to see the models not screw us in the final stretch. Even without looking at the Euro, probably safe to say we will get some real rain now and a dramatic improvement in air quality very soon. 0.5-1 inch rain totals for a lot of the region.

Weren’t you predicting the smoke would stick around until October as recently as this morning? ;) Amazing how better conditions can affect one’s outlook.

I am legitimately happy to hear about the improvements down there, though. Sounds like it was really getting to you and I hope you are feeling better.

Pretty interesting to see the dramatic improvement from Corvallis southward starting this evening. It looks like it has stalled south of Salem though. They are still reporting low visibility and smoky conditions.

Guessing just one more day of this for northerners.

Just checked the EPA site for our zip code and it’s back well into the hazardous category here. This really can’t end soon enough.

It'll get there. Sorry y'all are still stuck in it.

Yeah total crap air quality here too. At least it will feel satisfying when this system comes crashing in here and douses this place with rain and wind. Seriously cannot wait for it.

All of those posts from Eugene made me very excited. The bad air is starting to really give me headaches.

Doesn’t look as bad out there right now compared to yesterday. Can’t wait for the rain tonight!

A cool low of 52 here. Visibility is about the lowest I’ve ever seen it again. This smokefog episode is going out with a bang!

Interesting. Maybe the clearing from the south has hit here and not at your place yet. Much better visibility today. It will get to you eventually!

Yeah, seems to be a SW wind shift propagating up through Oregon. The front offshore might even have enough oomph to clear things out a little ahead of it this afternoon.

Any clearing should also help the convective potential. Models are showing fairly deep instability but are still initializing with the faulty thinking that it will be 80+ in the valleys, which obviously won't be close.

I was just thinking yesterday about what a crazy stretch of warmth we would be seeing lately if it weren't for the smogfog. Upper air progs have supported at least 80+ for the valleys for pretty much every day this month.

Who would of thunk!  I remember going into this that their would be no trampoline fun with the grandson due to heat down there....wasn’t the case at all.  No trampoline fun due to smogfog  :(

When does the fun begin today? Hoping fir a soaker in Seattle.

Hrrr+Gfs has the fun starting this evening.  We may need to get in our cars storm-chasing down south though.  Should be fun to watch unfold.  Need this smoke to dissipate to give us a better chance as well according to NWS

Same AQI here, though our temperature is 7°F cooler. First time the air has been better than “unhealthy” in most of a week.

Keep me posted if you decide to move down here at some point, I can direct you to areas that are great for snow and others that you want to avoid within the area of northern Snohomish Co/extreme southern Skagit Co. So many micro climates within this area.

I will if I ever do, but I think you’re confusing me with somebody else. I currently have no plans to move. (I just moved up to Bellingham a year ago, in fact.)

Hopefully the presence of the smoke and cool surface temps doesn't throw a wrench into the forecast for convection today.
