There is lightning activity popping to my west showing on radar but I am on my back deck looking straight out towards the coastal range and I don't see it yet.

I'll be out here a while.....I don't want to miss a single strike!

Apparently that tiny little surprise shower that formed to the east is hitting us. Who knew.

Clearly Froyobro has to be living east of me because I’m literally a few blocks west of the band. I’m not getting rain but I can kind of hear background noise.

Nothing here yet but liking the development on the radar to the south and west.

Meanwhile the visibility is up to 3 miles at PDX. That’s the highest I’ve seen it in over a week.

It’s been 2 miles or less for a week+, which I’d imagine is easily some sort of record.

Five minute obs were reporting 3.5 miles right before that. Which was the highest I’ve seen in days.

I noticed the haze thinning here before sunset and some low clouds forming on the ridge.   I am sure the inversion is weakening before the rain even arrives.

I hate always waiting for the snow/rain. We always end up with the goods, but I end up

staying up until 3-4a to see it.

There's still way too much smoke to even see the sky. Hearing rumbles here too, but no visuals.
