I've been hanging outside for the last 15 minutes or so. I'm happy to report at least 50 lightning flashes and thunder. It has been exactly 0 days since the last time I saw a lightning bolt. The neighborhood turkeys have been gobbling like crazy.

I've seen probably 30+ flashes at this point to the west, only quiet rumbles for most of them. Really impressive light show though. Obviously I can't see anything but a flash through the surface level smoke. Should be interesting once the action starts shifting further east.

Give this post a thunderstorm if you have seen lightning tonight. ⛈

Give this post a thunderstorm if you haven’t seen any, but hope to see some tonight.

Also, give this a thunderstorm if you hate me!

Most of the precip was always supposed to be in the late night and morning hours.

Yeah I'm thinking this is just the appetizer. I've had just enough rain for some spotty accumulation.

3 AM - 9 AM time period might be the peak I think.

The skies have opened up! This breaks Springfield's 3 month and 4 day streak without any measurable rainfall. One of the longest I can see in the records.

2.13" of rain in about 30 minutes in West Salem about 1am.

We are the new, proud owners of a gravel bar in front of our driveway.

I have never experienced rain that intense. There were two rivers flowing around our house. One coming off the hill above and the other coming from the creek in the backyard.

Sleep is not an option as more rain is incoming...

That's as heavy of rain as I've ever seen reported west of the Cascades.

Woke up and checked my phone which is always a bad idea.

You can actually track that heavy rain cell right into the Seattle area between noon and 3 p.m. on the 00Z ECMWF.

And it still raining in Oregon then too!

Went outside and I can tell the smoke is clearing out here... I can see stars and the ridge line is clearly visible even in the dark.

KSLE only picked up .25 in the last hour.   I was expecting more based on your report.
