However... the satellite shows smoke over Whistler now but it doesn't look like it on the web cams yet.

First time I’ve had crab cakes since 2008. Delicious as I can remember.

Clam chowder & filet mignon also. Damn this is great.

Solid marine layer along the Baja Peninsula.

12z EPS actually has cooler than normal temps in W-WA at the very end. I’ve never experienced a PNW summer trough before, hope I get to this time.

Doesn't have to be a huge ridge with a really warm air mass overhead... today was complete perfection without either.

We are already an oasis.

And doubt it works out that way with red everywhere.   And well before the timing of that EPS map... its an oasis for you while we are baking!

That’s a SW flow jungle pattern here. 🤮

Our oasis pattern is a plains ridge/NW flow.

Wildfires are starting...  Along the Columbia Gorge is the biggest so far in the state.  But some brush fires around the Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, and Yakima.  It is going to be pretty scary heading into fireworks season with people who don't care about dry grasses and trees as we enter another week of non-stop sunshine.  Very minimal chances of drizzle for next weekend.

Perfect weather for the M’s game today. I took my two year old and her 11 year old cousin. They wanted to go all the way to the top so I spend like 2 hours up there. You can almost see the game from those seats, easy for the eyes to drift over the the ferries and mountains.

Fun little thing to know - you’re heading into the right latitudes at the right time you might be able to see Lahaina Noon. This is when the sun is at a 90 degree angle and no objects cast shadows - apparently it looks pretty surreal if you can catch it, but it only happens twice a year.

I'm calling B.S. on the tree photo. In order to cast a shadow like that at noon, the tree would have to be shaped like a flat-topped cylinder, with a thin fringe of leaves along the outside edge and nothing on top.

It looks like a stylized representation of a tree like you'd get in a computer architect program.

HRRR-smoke has the thicker smoke farther north over BC mixing down to the surface tomorrow morning before quickly departing. Given that air quality is in the green in central BC I'm not too worried. Tomorrow night is a guaranteed bad AQI night anyway due to fireworks.

Not terrible weather the past few days. Ended up with an 84/55 day here yesterday. Brief morning clouds, breezy north winds into the afternoon and evening.

Got down to 54 this morning, the overnight recoveries have been nice. Looks like 90s the next 2-3 days after today, but 100 might be a taller order for Wednesday than it was looking a few days ago.

Didn’t snow much in Corvallis either. So many teasing near misses and dustings but no direct hits. Don’t get me wrong, consistent cold is great, but “so close yet so far” over and over gets pretty annoying.
