That’s epic. Is it the topography there augmenting radiational cooling or something else?

That section of the interior plateau is expensive and high elevation with just a few small rolling hills and mountains to the west and east.  Watch lake is close to 3500ft.   Nights are typically clear and calm in the summer and you get exceptional radiational cooling.  We can have frost at dawn and be drinking our coffee on the deck in 60F sunshine by 8 or 9am.  100 mile house sits in a depression just to our north and their record low for August is 21F.

Top map is current ground level smoke per Canadian smoke model and bottom map is forecast on Wednesday morning.  Looks like some low level smoke will make it into western WA by then... although it doesn't look too bad.   The current map shows a similar amount of ground level smoke in eastern MN right now as projected for western WA on Wednesday morning but its not really visible on web cams there.

Not too bad. Although both the op and GEFS are probably being too bullish with the cooler weather for week two. Euro and EPS both look warmer, albeit cooler than they were a few days ago when there was more agreement on a perma heatwave.

Appears that right now there are not any clouds anywhere in the state of WA.   Really close on the NW coast but technically over the water!

Honestly no hangover except my right eye in front of where I had my surgeries got a little puffed up during alcohol excretion. Definitely not pink eye since I touch both eyes a lot and my right eye is fine.

Most I’ve drank since college. 😂

M’lady says I’m a fun drunk. I become extremely gregarious.

What are max temps looking like for this heatwave?

I think PDX can get to 100 on Wednesday. Probably around 98-100.

Yeah I took this pic flying in a few hours ago. Wasn’t a cloud in sight. Though it looks like some convection is starting to fire a bit over the cascades.

I’m a happy chatty drunk! Unfortunately I rarely drink anything at all since anything more than one drink and I am in horrific shape the next day…More than a few drinks and I am down for two days. My body completely rejects alcohol.

Liking the new weather station so far. Temp seems to track pretty close to Tacoma Narrows, which is a few miles to my west. So seems accurate.

I got two sides when drinking — happy chatty drunk or sad melancholic drunk. I do creative writing so I gotta channel some inner depression while drinking. I've been all about Kraken Rum lately. 🐙🥃

First time I’ve had crab cakes since 2008. Delicious as I can remember.

Clam chowder & filet mignon also. Damn this is great.

Solid marine layer along the Baja Peninsula.

12z EPS actually has cooler than normal temps in W-WA at the very end. I’ve never experienced a PNW summer trough before, hope I get to this time.

Doesn't have to be a huge ridge with a really warm air mass overhead... today was complete perfection without either.

We are already an oasis.

And doubt it works out that way with red everywhere.   And well before the timing of that EPS map... its an oasis for you while we are baking!

That’s a SW flow jungle pattern here. 🤮

Our oasis pattern is a plains ridge/NW flow.

In Oregon’s rainiest spot today (pretty close, at least) on the Wilson River

We were enjoying the middle fork of the Snoqualmie River this afternoon.

Wildfires are starting...  Along the Columbia Gorge is the biggest so far in the state.  But some brush fires around the Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, and Yakima.  It is going to be pretty scary heading into fireworks season with people who don't care about dry grasses and trees as we enter another week of non-stop sunshine.  Very minimal chances of drizzle for next weekend.
