I guess locals are claiming at least 480 bodies have already been recovered in the Hawaii wildfire. Biden continues to laugh about it and say no comment. He’s making the Katrina response look like the gold standard.

He’s on vacation right now too in Tahoe. He will be going to Maui on Monday…but it’s no big deal what happened there and the vacation is definitely more important.

Our friend is moving to Spokane in 2 weeks, the house they were going to rent burned last night at medical lake.

Wow, that’s terrible.

Hey he’s cutting the vacation a couple days short. I mean it’s not quite a Katrina situation. Not much you can do for the dead, but they could at least send troops over from one of the military bases to help survivors and reassure families they will be able to rebuild. But the fact is this will probably end up being a giant land grab for the super rich.

You can feel the tropical atmosphere bumping and boiling. Things are about to go boom.

Dp 81°F here but feels much heavier. A foreboding oppressiveness unique to the tropics at the tail of summer.

I'll take meaningless yet provocative language for $500, Alex.

Definitely some passive aggressiveness there.

But there’s a kernel of truth there, that with all the sinking air over under that sprawling high, air needs to start rising somewhere else. Just so happens that area is the tropics.

Well he’s a PhD climate scientist so I’d certainly hope that would be the case. 😆

12Z ECMWF actually shows some rain late Tuesday into Wednesday morning with that ULL swinging through.    Would also help clear the air with increased onshore.   This would be so nice.

Trillions of gallons of water?   That is probably often the case across North America during the summer.   Trying too hard for clicks.

Sunny and 72 here.   Definitely a milky color to the sky but sun is at close to full strength.    AQI in the Snoqualmie Valley is still good between 10-20.   I suspect tomorrow morning will be much worse with easterly flow overnight.

Now that’s a legit ring of fire pattern.

Amazing if you’re on the edge, but miserable if you get stuck under the ridge. Would rather take my chances with a strong 500mb trough than flirt with death.

We were blessed with green until about an hour or two. Now in Moderate but likely rising as the hazardous smoke is just north of us.

We've been very lucky smoke wise the last two years at my location. I think we had a few days in yellow last year, maybe 1-2 in orange but it did not last long compared to the west side last Fall or the Spokane area. We haven't had a full day beyond moderate this summer. Also lucky with fires here. They've all been extinguished quickly this season.
