Air quality should be deteriorating by tomorrow morning already.

I think the stuff coming at us from the west will be high level and not very noticeable.   The bigger problem comes on Thursday when we start getting easterly flow around the ULL offshore.

Is it the downsloping component that mixes smoke to the surface there? Because that is the case back home, mountain waves/BL deepening to lee of terrain brings it down.

Could be.   The smoke tomorrow from the west has to take a long route over water.   The smoke coming on Thursday will be directly from the source to the east and will come in through the passes.

My spouse woke me up this morning and it was that snow in the morning feel at my house. Currently the forecast is .25-.5 in my area and we're already at .22 (.01 was the bust from yesterday that I never replaced). Still raining My seven year old says the rain makes it smell really peaceful. Glorious! I am so happy. Also yesterday it was that overcast tropical humidity feel with almost no precipitation that you're familiar with. This is much more like a west coast system. It's in the 50's here.

Yeah that definitely is a big factor, especially given the difficulty of penetrating our marine inversion as we move into autumn. I figured it would get into the marine layer where the easterlies are off the coast of BC but TT is right, the near-surface smoke product isn't showing anything this week. If a ton of smoke gets under our marine inversion like it did in 2020 then it can stick around for a long, long time.

Only 57F here. Today will be a windows open day. SO SO Happy! @Phishy Wx is Spokane getting any rain? My old team lead lives in Elk and was just outside the evacuation area as of yesterday. Do you have a gauge? How much do you have so far?

The good news is that the models are showing a ULL/trough moving through during the first part of next week which would clear the smoke again.

Oh, don't worry they will at some point...or, not pay him and he'll leave. That's the Mariner way.

Ummm, they already signed him to what is essentially a lifetime contract. 2037 is the earliest he could be a free agent if the Mariners exercise their team option.

Cal Raleigh is the one they need to lock up next.

Must be wrong. Phil said summer was over here a few weeks ago. 👿 😂

No sign of a big ridge on the EPS in the long range.

Generally looking like the ridge is wanting to end up a good bit offshore after the first few days of September.  Wouldn’t be too surprising. Summer’s clock has to be ticking down pretty quickly by now.

Brutal here when the sea breeze is late. 97/79, feels like 115. Sweating pouring off me like Niagara Falls.

wind just switched to onshore as I started typing this so should hopefully take the edge off.

(drunk af right now so any grammatical screwups are because of that lol

No heat advisory for this. People here are made of something different. Might give Tim’s mountaintop estate a run for its money. 🥵

What if getting drunk makes the "feels like" temperature hotter?

Actually helps I think 😂 But 4 everclear shots on a hot/humid day can’t be healthy. we’re mixing with gatorade zero now

Are you still hanging out in the swamps of Georgia in Mid August?  Crazy how much you actually enjoy the extreme heat and humidity there.

didn’t even see the sun until 12:30pm and it was already 93/77 by then. I keep forgetting how intense the solar radiation is versus back home. wouldn’t have have had a beach bender otherwise 😂

Bruh I can’t explain it. Something about this area has my heart on lockdown, weather notwithstanding. My gf thinks it’s a past life thing but idk if I believe in that stuff. Lol

For those who believe they matter, nice cooling of SSTAs off the WA coast over the last week. 🥳
