Stupid this produced a 100°F high here. Especially at this point in the season.

I think you secretly LOVE the triple digit humid heat! 🤩

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

Lol, yep I’m secretly a masochist. 😆

FWIW it isn’t a humid heat this time, dews down to mid-60s. Makes a huge difference.

I think the smoke may come back. Local news has the fires growing once again, at least down here in Oregon.

00Z Canadian smoke model does not show much over the next 3 days and still looks good over the weekend.    The NCEP smoke model only goes out through 48 hours but has not looked this good in a long time.

While all eyes have been on Lee in the Atlantic. Hurricane Jova in the Eastern Pacific Went from becoming a named storm to a category 5 hurricane in under 48 hours. Luckily it’s not headed towards land.

Playing Starfield has given me further fascination in knowing stellar cartographic concepts. It's realistic with which stars are closer to us and how it works. I love looking up at the clear sky and seeing the ones that are closer. Like Sirius and Procyon in the winter.

Ended up with a 77/47 spread yesterday. Some neat high clouds in the afternoon. Cloudier and milder this morning, low of just 56 so far. Weather is generally looking drier and warmer than average the next 7-10 days.

Looks like a mild month on tap. Could be worse.

Currently in Boise, a city in Idaho that most geographers would consider a part of the Pacific Northwest and most meteorologists would agree, unlike Cabin John, Maryland, and the weather is mostly enjoyable. Yesterday on the drive out here, had clear skies but encountered some thunderstorms in the Treasure Valley. Going from about 92 to 75 in the span of 30 minutes was pretty cool.

Low clouds or marine layer? I don't know. I just know that it is pure bliss. 60 degrees with low clouds. No A/C needed. Just feels great.

Inject this into my veins. Plz. 😭

Yeah. Ours was an extremely local fire that started right outside our town.

GFS/CMC keep Lee a bit further offshore of the NE. We'll see if Euro agrees.

Still 7+ days out, so of course model projections aren't super meaningful yet.

I think we’re safe from this one.

Unless 2023 somehow defies niño climo for late Sept/Oct, this will mark 20 years without a major hurricane landfall on the east coast, one of the longest streaks in recorded history.

Just have to hope this streak doesn’t end the way the major hurricane drought did on the gulf coast. Been steroidal down there since 2017.

Euro says Maine takes a direct hit. Nice work, Phil.

Tbh things could be worse in the West. Considering the winter is likely to feature a potent STJ, it’s likely CA/NV will continue to score, as well.

We need rain IMBY. If the CFS winter prediction come true we will lose a lot of mature trees by next summer.

Seriously. Or can we at least ban the control runs from being posted? They are going to endlessly flip flop between torching and OMGSNOW all winter.

But…That’s part of the fun!!
