Didnโ€™t get a chance to post this picture last night because it was at the beginning of a โ€œmany beersโ€ outing but caught an amazing sunset on the waterfront at Huntington Beach.

00z GFS looks awesome out there in the LR. ย Nice to see wavetrains beginning their seasonal transition(s) across guidance.

Wonโ€™t be long now. โ˜ƒ๏ธย

For someone who routinely trashes the GFS saying its garbage and should be shut down... its sort of funny when you talk about what it shows in the long range.ย ย

We were in a large shopping complex called Pacific City, one of the guys I was with used to live in the area, and he was blown away, and said none of that existed when he lived there.ย  Really nice area, I could see living there (if I could afford a 7 figure house).ย

It was such a beautiful night, temp in the upper 60's maybe 70-71, with a nice breeze coming off the water.ย  It was ugly hot and humid on Monday, but yesterday was nice.ย

I remember once that temperature was about 10-15 degrees warmer on the street than at the water edge. The marine layer can be pretty small at times because you could be walking and feel the drop mid way on the sand.

Once in a blue moon I can agree with its general idea. Doesnโ€™t happen often but I think itโ€™s correct w/ the troughier theme vs the operational ECMWF.

I was born up in Pasadena, and my mom took us down to HB every chance she got.ย  We moved when I was 4, so my memories are pretty limited.ย  I sent her pictures of the pier and beach but didn't sent her anything looking inland, her head would have probably exploded.ย  The places we went to Tuesday night were really nice, but I can definitely appreciate the appeal of the old HB you describe.ย  At one point we walked past the DQ across from the pier and someone noted it had been there forever.ย  We then got into a discussion on what that property was probably worth now, and amazed that the owner (whoever it is) has not sold it.

I went to Fountain Valley a couple times in the 90s for network upgrades. We had to wear suits with white shirts in those days even though I was an IT guy who crawled under desks to plug in cables. The local guys took me to a burger shack on Huntington Beach where we ate lunch in our suits next to Jeff Spicole type surfers. Iโ€™m like I get why you guys like it here, this is awesome.ย

Great to see the Brrr is back.ย

Fall is definitely here. Been noticing the movement of the animals this past week. The deer and elk are absolutely everywhere right now, my wife came home late the other night from the Goo Goo Dolls concert in Eugene, and said she saw deer, elk, coons, and a fox along the road in the state park on her way home. My cats and dogs have been slaying a large number of critters the past few days, highlighted by an enormous wood rat which I measured 15" from tail to nose. Below is a pic of the elk out last night.ย

Wow, Goo Goo Dolls...blast from my past..I saw them in Athens in the early 90's when they were just getting started.ย  They played with Soul Asylum at the Georgia Theater.ย  I can't remember which band, but one of the lead singers was so wasted he had a hard time staying on his feet...might have been Soul Asylum.
