You got decent rain. Many other areas did not. Plenty of time for the wildfires to continue to be a problem and for new wildfires to start.

But he can’t jetski in cloudy weather. :(

So goofy.   My area could burn too.  Doesn't mean I don't like variety.   I am feeling much better after getting meaningful rain.

When I went on my 18 mile paddle the other day it was nice to have the river to myself. People are so fair weather when it comes to recreation. I’d rather avoid the crowds.

I golf 10x more in spring before weather changes than I do in the summer. Hate slow play and love playing when it’s a little wet out.

IAD tied their all time record high for September at 99°F. That record will almost certainly fall tomorrow or Tuesday.

Miserable weather for everyone except Tim.

Pretty nice early September day here. Distant thunderstorms visible to the south and west in the early hours. Also had a high of 71 just after midnight. Afternoon high of just 69 today with mostly overcast skies and spots of drizzle. Nice line of rain moving in this evening with NW winds and temps dropping down toward 60. Picked up a quick 0.05” so far. Feels like fall.

Up to .40 in my area... all since 6 p.m.

Just about 2 inches of rain in the last 2 weeks.   Really nice to have fall green up in full swing.   Feels much more normal compared to the smoky mess of last fall.    Makes the sunny days ahead much more enjoyable.   It's too late in the year to dry out again.

You received significantly more rain than almost anywhere else on the west side. Glad to hear you're greening up and I agree we're in a better spot than previous years, but the lack of water throughout the west side is still pretty significant. Many of the fires in the Cascades are still burning because the 0.25" or 0.5" they received was not enough to put them out. Lake Chelan was pretty hazy/smoky today because of the wildfire burning in the Glacier Peak Wilderness. Many trails are still closed because of the threat of the fires spreading the next warm, dry day we get.

I'm definitely all for some more sunny and warm weather, but would really like it to happen after we get enough beneficial rainfall across the area so I don't have to keep planning my weekends around wildfire smoke.

Totally agree.  Planning around smoke sucks.  I am assuming the Cascades have been getting even more than my area.   Just based on my experience over the last two decades when we see the first significant rain events in the foothills and mountains then the smoke is usually not an issue for the rest of fall.

I hate you as much as you hate low land snow near the holidays, but even I grow tired of some Mid Atlantic jabroni pulling a climate flex to a bunch of starved weather enthusiasts.

There is so much material to work with!

Cloud maps, parking lot trees, marine push derechos, bare and wet WSDOT cams, and more. He could have his pick of any of that, but no, he just copy and pasted his accuweather forcast into ChatGPT and asks it to insult Tim with it.

Lowland snow around the holidays is high on my list of favorite things so I guess that is a compliment!  I don't hate anyone here.   And haven't downplayed snow events for years.   At least I made an effort to improve.  But I guess all of our material gets stale after so many years.

The wildfire season in Canada has burned over 40 million acres to date.  That’s nearly 4% of the forested land in Canada.

High winds the past 2 days have fanned the flames in central and northern BC.  The provincial area burned is now up to 5.5 million acres.

0.11” of rain in my backyard today.  More than I was expecting.

Up to .43 here now but might be done.

Fires in northern BC will probably just keep going until it snows at this point.   Crazy long fire season up there this year.
