They don't look that bad when they are mounted up there.

Unfortunately, when coming down the street, there is a big clearing next to my house and as a result it is very prominent, especially the location where I would mount the station.  My neighbor is very close on the opposite side, I would be worried about the temperature being influenced by having both houses in  such close proximity.

Not a hill I really want to die on for an "all in one" station, if for no other reason than it would be such a PITA to service.  It takes 2 ladders to get up on that part of the roof.   If I ever get to a point of getting a Davis, I think it would be an easy argument for just an anemometer up there.

Sweet Jebus we got hit with a heavy cell earlier this evening, went from .58" to .95" in 15 minutes, with the calculated rate being 1.6" per hour at one point during the downpour.  My wife and I were kicking back and enjoying a dram of Macallan scotch when we started hearing a roar outside.  We looked at each other, looked at our glasses (we had just started drinking on them), looked at each other then finally looked outside and realized the rain was causing the roar LOL!

I got up to turn on the porch light, watched outside for about 20 seconds and came back and sat down.  In that 45 seconds we went from .68"to .74".  I kept watching weather station display display, it was counting up at an unbelievable rate, it seemed like it was ticking up every 10-15 seconds or so.

Once all was said and done, we are now at .99" for the day.  Temp was down to 52 after a high of 62.

Probably the cell that was modeled to come down here by the 3km NAM and the Euro, but never got down here. Ended up with 0.32" on the day and a high of 64F.

Thank Jesus and George Washington that we get earlier model runs starting tomorrow.

Europe still uses the old dates for spring forward and fall back so I'm not sure if GW deserves that praise.
