I got an alert on my phone ~15s before the shaking started! It was a minor rolling sensation where I was.

Quite a bit of debris clouds overhead but all the action is to our east. Still helps keep the marine layer in check.

High was 80F today! Warmer than expected. Still 72F right now. Amazing day.

Yesterday was great! Mid level moisture continues to beat back the marine layer and possibly give me another good day.

Meanwhile, 1000 miles away tropical cyclones Emilia and Fabio were doing a Fujiwhara dance before one absorbed the other this morning.

Side note — it’s supposed to be the first time in 50 years the East Pacific has had four named storms active at once, which it did earlier this week.

Party’s over for the coast. The marine layer clouds first reached west facing beaches of LA County around noon; farther south they saw the sun longer.

Long range models are waffling on how much we cool down next week. Some call for a big trough, others a continuation of our current pattern.

Nice and warm down to the coast, with pretty reliable mid-upper 70s.

The marine layer has been acting strange last night. It came in at around 7pm and disapeared at 10:30pm. It never came back at my house.

There’s a bifurcated stratus field today. you have one mass of it mostly offshore but trying to slooze up into my area, and up north, a new mass of it riding the coastal jet and just starting to mix with the southern patch.

Also some monsoon moisture valiantly scraping away at the marine layer.
