We only scraped 73 late morning before the wind shifted and it was down to 67 and foggy in very short order

Well that esculated quickly! Now forecasted 90's on Wednesday and Thursday! Mild and muggy this evening.

The Pacific is not going quietly. It took until 16:00 before it fully cleared out here, and it’s already rushing back in. 

The Kamchatka Klipper’s legacy continues. (That’s the trough sequence that single-handedly ended summer at the coast this year.)

Couldn’t even see across the street this morning. Godzilla Inversion remains parked in place.

So much for an offshore flow. The marine layer made it a good distance inland despite being squashed, and I also see a southerly surge going up the Central Coast.

In the 1950s when San Diego became a trendy place to live, property values actually dropped near the water because there wasn’t enough sun! The most desirable neighborhoods were toward its east side. 
 

Nowadays in the age of death ridges and squashed marine layer, Point Loma could one day become a climate change refugee camp while the eastern suburbs hit triple digits. Wouldn’t be surprised to see the same here in the “Eureka of Los Angeles.”

You could drive from 65 to 85F in 5 miles on a day like this.

Good clearing overhead although it’s still clinging to nearby beaches. We’ve managed to squeak into the low 70s.

If it doesn’t come rushing back in soon, we might be able to climb a bit higher.

About 80F now. Was supposed to 88F today. I will take another 80F day.

Hit 88 in LA metro where I am, with even a few buildups to the northeast. Let's see if we can actually get to 90+ tomorrow. Sunday-Tues also look downright hot in the current forecast.

Not as dense more like a heavy haze but it was sunny over my head this morning. Not so much right at the beach or to the south of me.

still no actual offshore flow to wipe the Marine layer out.

above-average warmth in west facing LA County is rapidly becoming an endangered species.  There have been many heat waves this year but only two have significantly moved the needle at the beach.

What was KLAX’s warmest year on record? I’m starting to wonder if cold records are falling faster than warm ones here.
