Could be flirting with 90 at ORD on Tuesday.  I'd give it about a 35% chance at this point.  Record high is 92.

Fun fact... from May 14 through October 4, every daily record high for Chicago is over 90 degrees.

89'd at ORD.

91 at Midway

A lot of flooding around the town my Iowa property is located. Neighbors are checking my basement. So far it's dry and the pump hasn't even kicked on. Im.thinking the water will settle into the ground over the next couple days and the pump will be getting a workout.

We finally got hit pretty good here yesterday. I had this beast of a stone with a 3.5" diameter! There were also a number in the 2-2.5" range I found though many were smaller. Luckily didn't do much damage. Here is a radar cross section as it approached, a picture of the largest stone, and a short video.

I am not aware of any major damage to the roof! Thankfully there were just a few of the really big stones. The majority of the stones were perhaps 0.75-1.5" and didn't seem to do much damage. If they had been more numerous I think it would have been a different story.

So in the end it was mostly just relatively harmless fun.

DFW is in the bullseye today.
Warnings are out for hail, high winds, and tornados.
Starting out cloudy, warm at 78* with a high of 88*.

Storms should start showing up after noon. May is often our worst month so everyone is looking up.

Yesterday was another very summer like day with the official H/L of 84/58 there was no rainfall the sun was out 47% of the time. The highest wind gust was 30 MPH out of the S. For today the average H/L is 72/51 the record high of 91 was set in 1925 the record low of 34 was set in 1917 that year also had the most rainfall of 1.10” it was a cold day as the high was only 42. Last year the H/L was 77/47.

It was a very warm overnight as most of the night was in the upper 70’s In fact it looks like the high for today will be 79 and that was reached at 2AM. The low and current temperature here in MBY is 72. It is now becoming mostly cloudy.

Most spots touched the 80 degree mark yesterday with the exception of West Grove and East Nantmeal "only" hitting 79 degrees. All locales today will reach the low to mid 80's with plenty of sun. Shower chances will be around for the Memorial Day weekend with the best chances at some rain being Tomorrow and the best days with some sun being both Friday and Sunday.
Chester County records for today: High 98 degrees at Phoenixville (1934) / Low 31 degrees in West Chester (2002) / Rain 2.59" at Coatesville 1SW (1915)

Climate Alarmists love to say"there is consensus on climate" While Climate Realists ask "is it true?" Science is of course never about consensus. I will always question the science and provide rigorous data analytics using only the actual climate data. All historical weather data analytics posted by me is specifically for the unique climate specific to Chester County PA.  All data includes only the actual raw non-adjusted NWS certified Coop/AWOS/MADIS climate data for Chester County.  Unlike the data you will find at NOAA/NCEI sites, there have been no post observation computer adjustments made to massage the data .

Tomorrow we may get hit again here, but it's Saturday that does indeed look ominous. Could be some big time storms along the front with large hail initially, but the tornado threat will go way up as the LLJ punches in.

Will have to see where things end up, but so far, this meteorological spring is the 3rd warmest on record for Chicago, trailing only 1977 and 2012.

In case anyone is wondering how much that the absurdly warm March 2012 is skewing the results... the period just from April 1 until now registers as 4th warmest.

Definitely hasn't been a shortage of weather to talk about across the region and across the state this month. I'm sorry for my absence, friends.

The large storm that passed over OKC the other night was truly beautiful to watch.

I hadn't gotten to watch a massive supercell like that out there in many years. It makes me feel so small.

The weather is still always amazing to me, even if it is destructive at times.

Not much better here with just 0.01". Had noticed models weren't showing much and was hoping they'd be wrong. At least the dryer areas of Iowa were getting the heaviest amounts lately. And far se. Iowa which had been the wettest earlier was missing out more in May and dryer than most of the state.

A Flood Watch is in effect for North Texas, including Dallas and Fort Worth, until Thursday night. Widespread 1–3-inch rain amounts are expected, with some isolated 3-to-5-inch totals not out of the question.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for southeastern North Texas until 12 am Thursday.
High around 85. Low 70.
That should fire off some real fireworks with all the moisture in the atmosphere.

I've been on the northern edge for almost all severe weather outbreaks. I've had severe thunderstorm watches for close places to my west, south, and east but I believe Sioux Falls has only been under one so far this season. For the most part we have just been getting rain with the occasional lightning and thunder. It's been a clear case of 'so close but no cigar'.

That being said, it has certainly been stormy for many. This is just the past two days...

The was no rain it was yet another windy day with a peak gust of 41 MPH out of the SW. There was 59% of possible sunshine. For today the average H/L is 71/53 the record high of 90 was set in 1977 and the record low of 30 was set in 1963. The wettest was 2.22” in 1904 Last year the H/L was 82/50.

Sneaky warm Spring around here, it hasn't felt like a top 10 warmest spring.

Follow

While this Spring (since March 1st) has been mild we've done it without having early season heat. Through 5/21 this is the 10th warmest Spring on record however we have not had a single 90 degree day in KC. The warmest temperature this Spring thus far is 86 degrees.

DOWS data on the Greenfield tornado.

The DOW team focused on the Greenfield tornado measured preliminary winds of 250 mph with the possibility that some may have reached as high as 290, at 144 feet above ground. Their assessment was that the storm was very intense and tight. It exhibited extreme multi-vortex circulation. If the 290 mph speed is verified, it would be in the top tier of radar measured violent tornadoes. Only Bridge Creek 1999, El Reno 2011, and El Reno 2013 measured higher Doppler wind speeds. So far, the NWS in Des Moines has classified the storm as EF3, which means damage consistent with winds under 165 mph. They continue to gather evidence and I think there is a strong possibility it's upgraded to EF4 status based on DOW data and damage I've seen.

Is this a sign of Climate Change? All jokes aside, this is a fascinating snippit this morning... Snowbowl Ski Resort is going to be open till June this season...longest ski season ever!  Apparently, the 55" they received in April did the mountain some "Good".  Love to see this and it mirrors what I saw from my flight this past SAT when I saw the snow capped peaks of the White Mountains just to my east.  I also read that the mountains near Tao's, New Mexico did very well this past winter as the snow keeps falling across the southern U.S. in recent consecutive years.

I was going to post on this yesterday and the more I look into the data for this weekends Severe Wx threat, I see a potential long-lived MCS across KS/MO into IL/IN.  @Clinton and the KC peeps should be on the "look out"....

Oddly enough, the ICON has been steadfast on this idea...
