18z ECMWF AI model was extremely wet over the Northern Plains and upper Midwest over the next 15 days. This would put us at 160% of normal June rainfall with another four days to go in the month. This after May ended up with 103% of normal precip and April ended +148%. Not too shabby.

Thanks for the consistent contributions @chescowxman, I and few others appreciate hearing about weather in the Philly area.

If you could get more Philly Wx Forum folks to hop over, I think we'd have a real interesting group.

Ive lived in Iowa almost 20 years now. But gotta say really miss  all those hard core weather guys from east coast. Especially  centered in eastern Pennsylvania.   The entire mid Atlantic  full of weather  hobbyists!  And I still think Penn State  far exceeds  all others in Meteorology. I find midwest (se iowa) weather quite frustrating  and boring at times, particularly  these 10 to 20 or more days of baking sun. When it comes to gardening,  crops, etc I will take good weather over good soil ANYTIME!

Lake Tahoe is one of the most beautiful places I’ve seen in this country.  It is the 2nd largest lake in the world at this elevation.  One of the cleanest bodies of water you’ll ever see (99.994 % pure).  I have soo many videos and photos to share and I’ll post a few here.

But first, yesterday morning, I was awoken by the sounds of a huge brown Bear 🐻 that opened the garbage bin that wasn’t closed all the way from the previous guests.

We started the day at Emerald Bay…

Climate Alarmists love to say"there is consensus on climate" While Climate Realists ask "is it true?" Science is of course never about consensus. I will always question the science and provide rigorous data analytics using only the actual climate data. All historical weather data analytics posted by me is specifically for the unique climate specific to Chester County PA.  All data includes only the actual raw non-adjusted NWS certified Coop/AWOS/MADIS climate data for Chester County.  Unlike the data you will find at NOAA/NCEI sites, there have been no post observation computer adjustments made to massage the data .

We drove around the entire lake that took about 3 hours stopping and going from all different vantage points throughout the lake.  It's truly fascinating that you can be on a beach looking out at snow capped mountains in the middle of June.  Just an incredible experience to be able to witness the majesty of this wonderful place.  The lake water temp along the shoreline warmed up to a balmy 65F over the last few days, however, they say do not jump into the lake without a life jacket when your farther offshore bc the shock you can experience can kill you quickly due to loss of breath.

Meantime, it's a very chilly 43F right now and we are expecting temps to SHOOT up to 86F today...nothing but sunny blue skies are in the forecast today through the weekend.  Perfect weather conditions.  Today will be the hottest day and I find it quite interesting that the diurnal temp difference is forecast to be over 40 degrees!  Way more than what I've experience in the desert of Arizona.

My county had our first Severe Thunderstorm Warning of the season a bit ago. The cell ended up weakening and passing by just to my north, so never had it issued for my specific spot in the county. So the no warning streak continues! We'll see how long it lasts...

I'm starting to get excited about tomorrow's weather. I'm liking what some of the latest CAMs are showing too.  Might get lucky enough to even see two rounds of storms, but the HRRR isn't showing that. Wasn't looking very interesting there for a day or two as it looked like everything would redevelop to the south of me (it still may) tomorrow afternoon, but might be lucky enough to be in the line of fire now?

Today, was another eventful day as we saw bears on the side of the road before we got to Emerald Bay.

IMG_4944.jpeg

Inspiration point overlooking the bay…

Then across the street, we took a very strenuous hike up to Cascade Falls.  In the videos I said Eagle lake but it’s actually Cascade Lake.  I was very proud of my parents who are both 77 years old as they both made it, although, My Mom struggled towards the later 1/3 of the hike back.  It ain’t easy to do after hip surgeries and climbing up rocks.  Props to both of them!

Absolutely surreal. I've only gotten above 80° twice this year so far, with the second time being today (and we had severe storms to show for it).

I was fortunate to get a thundershower early this morning, which dropped 0.24".  It's not much, but it re-filled my rain barrel.  It's possible that's all we'll get for the next week.

Well storms formed over me. Heard thunder  and had drops falling on 3 occasions.  But ended this system with .02 rain.  This could've  been a $30k rain but it didnt happen. Since may 25th my area missed to nw, ne, east, south  and sw.  After a nice rainy April  and May. Bang its gone! Late  May and early  June is climatologically the wettest  time of the year. But in 2023 and 2024 almost zero rain in that timeframe.

Since May 25th .31"

Since June 1st .20

Im not taking  pictures  of the 300 plus burned up acres we mow.  But I suspect  this wil last into Sept or Oct again, like most  summers since 2012.  I know the 1930s were dry and the 1950s were very dry growing  seasons.  But  this seems to never change back to 60 year averages.

We ended up with 0.19 on the day. It dumped pretty hard for a short period of time as the cell passed by to the north.

Looks like we have more shots coming up with the CSU learning model showing broad severe potential starting Saturday through at least Tuesday/Wednesday with a peak on Monday. I know many areas east of the Rockies will bake in the upcoming pattern but it'll be kind of nice to have a SE ridge for a bit. It feels like it has been a while since we've had that feature to really help transport the warm Gulf moisture up north.

We've been dry for 9 days in a row now and I don't see any good chance of rain for another week or more. We will have some slight chances early next week, but meaningful rain just isn't going to happen.

Meanwhile, it's been pretty warm with a number of days in the 90s and with relatively high humidity too. Summer is here.

Yesterday was the first 90 degree day for KC, plenty more on the way for the second half of the month

Yesterday turned out to be the first 90 degree day of the year for Kansas City. That was 17 days later than the average first 90 degree day (5/27). It was the 31st latest first 90 degree day on the 136-year period of record

Happy Flag day when I was young this was a bigger day than it is at this time. Back then many people would put their flag out in the front of their house.

The official H/L yesterday was 87/67 there was 0.07” of rainfall. The highest wind gust was 39MPH out of the SW. The sun was out 63% of the time. The record rainfall is 2.89” in 1972 Last year the H/L was 73/50.

With highs at Grand Rapids being forecasted in the mid 90's next week and low in the low to mid 70's will there be any new records set? At Grand Rapids the record highs  and the warmest lows are. For Monday 95 for the high 73 for the low. For Tuesday 96 and 73 and for Wednesday 98 and 77.  The record for the 19th looks safe. The 17th and 18 could be closer

I'm surprised it's their first day. It hit 92⁰ the last two days here, but only for the second time.

Saw a video yesterday of a windshield getting all cracked up from baseball hail. I think it was in northeast Mo. near the Iowa border, but not sure anymore, and can't find the video now. It was storm chasers who seemed to not really care and probably think it's a badge of honor!🤔

High Temps ranged from the low to mid 80's yesterday across the County. Today we should see temps well into the 80's today before a cold front passes later in the day which will cool us back to near normal over the weekend. Temps begin to warm and some solid heat sets in with widespread 90's likely starting on Tuesday.
Chester County records for today: High 99 degrees at Phoenixville (1943) / Low 41 degrees at West Chester (1985) / Rain 1.91" also in West Chester (1917)

I need rain.  Technically not in a drought or even "abnormally dry".  But we are running 1+-2+ inch deficits in the last 30 days.  Things are browning up and not much reliable relief in sight.  After a wet early spring, was hoping for some wetter June days.
