Now we just gotta have Alaska roast like that in the winter!

Seems like I read somewhere that AK was actually warmer than present during the little ice age.  That means the cold would have been magnified here beyond the drop from lower global temps alone.

Finally seeing some high SOI numbers.  We'll see if this gives the Nina a little kick in the arse.

More amplitude this run.

The key is going to be how much the Aleutian Block is able to suppress any heat or force a trough to retrograde the ridge.

A likely outcome is the heat gets here for a while and then gets crashed by something being forced down from the NW.

The ICON has been insistent on a more western ridge position.

Looks like I will be ending the month at 5.34” of rainfall.

Elevation 580’ Location a few miles east of I-5 on the Snohomish Co side of the Snohomish/Skagit border. I love snow/cold AND sun/warmth!

 I hate dry season here.

Mediterranean climates definitely suck.

The absence of water for long periods is simply barftastic. I'd happily trade a good 50% of our winter precip for more in the summer.

My raspberries are at peak right now, and this weather is perfect for them.  A lot of times some of them get burned from the sun if the timing of hot weather is unfavorable.

Huge crop of strawberries for me.

My honeybees also had a fantastic few weeks, the blackberry blossom season is actually on schedule this year and it didn’t get cut off early by a warm spell or washed out with a big rainfall.

Result seems to be the same here regardless of how the upstream pattern changes.

Western ridge = I torch

Western trough = I torch

Flat flow = I torch.

It’s been the common denominator all year.

Lmao. You’ve had more thunderstorms in one day than I’ve had all year. Didn’t have a single thunderstorm in June, for the first time in my life.

Never experienced a pattern like this before.

The forecast for Everett isn't horrible.  I just don't want it to get that much hotter.  Wish we had some rain before and after the fourth of July.  People are dumb with flammable things like fireworks.  Any chance of rain in the long range? I can't look right now.

I’ve picked 50 lbs of strawberries in the last week. Unfortunately my raspberries all succumb to disease. I don’t know what it is. Cherries and raspberries I can’t grow.

The ECMWF models show that onshore flow is really going to mitigate the coming hot weather.  Looks like a few hot days and then a good push.

I have great luck with raspberries, but can't seem to get my strawberries going.  I just planted them last year so maybe another year to really get them in full swing.  My raspberries are freeking insane though.

We planted bare root last spring. This year is out of control.

Ended up with a 78/62 day here for the last day of June. Partly to mostly cloudy and kind of muggy early, clearing out toward late afternoon with a cooler breeze developing.

Looks like PDX ended up with a +2.0 for the month. +1.2 for VUO.

Summer ☀️ grows while Winter ❄️  goes

My family did that itinerary several years ago, it was a lot of fun, do you go up to Glacier Bay (I think I am remembering that correctly).  What cruise line are you on?

I don’t think I do go up to Glacier. I’m on the Celebrity Edge.
