Dome held strong I just got 0.0  Last Wednesday  I watched a huge cell   drop southeast   and miss Wapello  county to west (I got caught  in that tremendous  cell).  Sun am a  dying line went over my land and blew up 1 mile east of me (I drove and saw the puddles etc, .60 closeby). Sunday eve a tremendous  cell blew up and rained out  a few miles to my north.   Today was rolling toward me from des metro. Died and refire se of me!!!!!   Honestly  I have some foul language  I could use about  the crap hole weather place.   The lawns more burned up in Ottumwa  Iowa than   100s of miles around  most summers.  Research  it you will see mby probably  the least rain in Iowa  since May 26th.  Attached  below are some of my misses.

I had to think of you last evening again when I saw the storms just missing you once again.😕 I know the disgusting feeling esp. with the next 7 or more days looking dry and seeing most places all around you being well watered the last few weeks!

Nice storm here.  Got pretty windy and the power flickered several times, but no signs of damage right here from what I can tell.  I saw several green flashes in the sky that looked like transformers blowing.

Looks like there were multiple tornadoes in Chicago metro, and might've had something tornadic in the city again for the 2nd night in a row.

This has been a crazy Spring and Summer for most of Chicagoland and N IL...nice break in the weather coming up for an extended period should feel pretty good.  I see ORD only got 0.33" or RN last night?  Seems low.

We will se 102* this afternoon.
100* tomorrow with a 30% rain.
(that’s encouraging)

Thursday forward for about a week will deliver 93 and as low as 89 with chances of rain.
Am I dreaming?

That does seem low just based on what the radar looked like.  Appears the ASOS never went down either.  Who knows.

With daylight this morning, I was able to see a couple small branches knocked down along with a couple things that were thrown around.  All in all not bad here though.

LOT says they will be investigating nearly 30 paths of damage.  Here they are, below.  Based on the radar signatures, there was probably a rather large number of QLCS tornadoes.

There was a fatality from a fallen tree south of here in my county.  One of the rotation paths went through that area so it will be interesting to see if it was tornadic.  Any wx death is significant and tragic, but from a historical perspective, it would carry extra significance because there have not been any tornado related fatalities in this county in the modern era (post-1950).

Forgot to mention that my dewpoint briefly peaked at 82 yesterday evening.  I think that's the highest number I've had.  Pretty impressive since it's not like I'm in a field of corn.

LOT has confirmed several tornadoes so far, including one that got near the western Loop in Chicago.  That would be the closest documented tornado to downtown Chicago since the May 6, 1876 tornado.

I had 2.15" in my gauge this morning.  The worst of the storm missed to our north, but it did rain hard.  Just didn't get the wind to go with it, which was ok by me.

The Sunday evening tornado (not last night) at Midway Airport moved a 737 airplane!

An EF-0 tornado began just west of Midway Airport and tracked over the airport, where it displaced a 737 airplane, slamming it into a jet bridge. The tornado continued east-northeastward through the West Elsdon, Gage Park, New City, and Fuller Park community areas of Chicago, where it primarily caused tree and minor roof damage to homes. The tornado then crossed I-90/I-94, producing additional instances of tree damage as it tracked through the Grand Boulevard and Kenwood community areas before it tracked out over Lake Michigan.

Definitely a plus to have rain but not at the cost of thrashing the crops.

It's a wonder of how many different hits they can take.

Widespread 90's again yesterday. In fact yesterday was the first time I have recorded back to back 90 degree days in East Nantmeal since July19-21st in 2020. Another shot at 90 today...but with a strong front sweeping in from the west by late PM or early evening it may keep some folks just below 90 degrees. Strong storms are again possible this evening and then a great stretch of weather with temperatures even a little below normal for Thursday and Friday. Of note on average tomorrow the 18th is the warmest day of the year...for those who love winter average temps begin a slow fall that will continue until the coldest day of the year on January 21st.
Daily Chester County records for today: High 101 degrees at West Chester (1988) / Low 42 degrees at Devault (1954)/ Rain 2.61" at Phoenixville (2018)

LOT has confirmed 19 tornadoes so far from July 15, but they have several areas left to survey so the final total will certainly end up surpassing 20.

At least 3 tornadoes occurred in Chicago on July 15, and with July 14 producing 2 tornadoes in Chicago, it is the first time on record that the city has had tornadoes on back to back days.  If no additional tornadoes are confirmed, that would make 9 tornadoes in the Chicago city limits just since 2016.  Obviously we are better than we have ever been at identifying areas where tornadoes occurred, but that is still a pretty remarkable run and more like something I would expect in Oklahoma City.  The fortunate thing is that all of those tornadoes have been EF-0 or EF-1.

July 18, 1942, the overnight temperature dropped to only 80 degrees. This is the highest record maximum low temperature ever recorded in Detroit and ties the records set on July 1, 1931, and July 5, 1921.

The areal footage of the south side storms I saw on WGN definitely looked like a weak TOR.  As you said, that's pretty historic to see back 2 back days of TOR in a major metro.

Looking out my patio deck, to the south I see a weakening rain shaft from a tiny blip on radar.  Nice to see with the sun rays hitting the top of the clouds at the early angle of the morning hours.  It is currently 95F at PHX and I think that will be good enough for yet another record low high for the day.

It's still too hot because summer is always too hot for me  But in all seriousness, this is the nicest stretch of summer weather coming up I'll have seen in my two years here.

I forgot to report that on Sunday, the 14th, PHX recorded 0.33" of RN...the highest amount so far this season...looks like it gets more active as we head deeper into the weekend and early next week.  I was also lucky to get some decent rainfall closer to a 1/4" that evening as well.

Most spots across Chester County over the last 7 days have received between 1" to over 3" of rain. Here in East Nantmeal we have received 3.07" of rain since last Thursday. Spots across Southern Chester County have been generally on the lower side of these amounts with more to the North across the county. A nice stretch of weather through the weekend is on the way. Relatively low humidity and temps not far from normal to slightly below.

Looks like the weather has cooled off back home, temps are currently in the upper 60s to 70 degrees.   Rain over the weekend with a disturbance slowly moving through the area.  This cool part of the pattern is related to the cold we experienced the week of January 15th.

Impressive trough for peak summer helping to keep things reasonable as myself and others have noted. While the ensemble mean does show a return to summer heat in the extended it's been getting pushed back. The AIFS produces another trough in early August to keep things reasonable.

Based on what I can tell from the info that has been put out by LOT, one of the tornadoes from Monday evening missed my aunt/uncle by only about 300 yards.  Pretty close for comfort.  They were without power for a while and had some tree damage in their neighborhood, which was evidently straight line wind.

An unusual wet period ahead for July but very welcomed.  I’m sure farmers will be happy if it dries out and allows harvest.
