yup, grew up in South Carolina.  I'm to the point now where I'd take the humidity over smoke.  but the fact summer is short here is nice

That's a hard one. I was there in 1998. Wildfires were burning everywhere. It still wasn't as bad as Spokane. High humidity is probably healthier than an AQI between 400 and 500. I might have to go with high humidity over smoke.

Jesse is going to be thrilled when he gets back and learns that I can’t post pictures with my brand new IPhone! No more boat and jetski pics from me apparently. 😞

Do you have the iPhone 15? I got it a few months ago and the exact same thing happened to me. I have to screenshot my photos to post them sometimes.

It's been one month since the solstice and we finally have no big heatwaves on the horizon. In about a month it starts getting much more difficult to hit 90F at KSEA.

I already miss my upper 70’s to low 80’s days that I had this month…It was literally perfect here! Sorry everyone down south, and east.

I love the wall to wall sunshine days and as long as it stays below 90 im good. But I must admit that today’s coolish temps felt pretty amazing…

Yes, Spokane has more 90s coming. We may even hit 100 a time or two. I will definitely enjoy the 80s next week. We could use a break.

10" over 3 nights in Dec 2021. Melted off the roads during the day.

Some slop that melted before sunrise in March 2023 and 2024.

Destructive ice storm of 2.25" in Jan 2024.

So some notable events, but nothing significant in the snowfall dept since Dec 2021. If we have no snow on the roads again this season then it will be pretty depressing. And I have basically no hope of our family ever moving.

Eugene scored a ton of snow in that Feb 2019 event, right?

The Durkee Fire in Baker County is now over 143,000 acres, on it's western flank it has now merged with the 133,000 acre Cow Valley Fire.

Meanwhile the Falls Fire is now 121,000 acres, The Lonerock Fire is 116,000 acres, Battle Mountain Complex is 31,000 acres, and the BONEYARD Fire is now 7,000 acres.

I don't know if anyone recalls driving past Durkee on I-84, but they have a giant cement plant or something right off the freeway there, it's a pretty bleak area.

I see what you meant here... that was more  tinge of sadness for the days getting shorter.   It always pretty hard for SEA to reach 90.    It's usually only a handful of days per year out of 365 days.    Not a significant part of climo at all.

Keep jinxing us Jim. We all know another heatwave will present itself late late July or August.

This “cool” down is really only bringing us to normal before we heat up to above average again fairly quickly.
