July 2024 In The Pacific Northwest

Recommended Posts

Good chance SEA doesn't hit 70 today.  No easy trick this time of year even back in the day.  From July 20 to August 10 sub 50 lows and sub 70 highs are quite difficult to achieve.

I knew the models were running way too warm on surface temps for the pattern change setting in.

Looks like no sub 70 here temp went up 4 degrees over the last 90 minutes when the sun came out. 70 currently. Still it’ll be nice to not have to use AC for the next 7-10 days atleast.

Boooo!  Still only 65.5 here.

A very pleasant 82F out there with beautiful sunshine.

This is what our summer weather used to be like. A breath of fresh air.

I can't imagine what it would take to give you a sub 80 max these days.

It showed the clouds being pretty persistent today for many days now.   I also think trapped smoke aided in the solid nature of the clouds today over Seattle.   Colder air aloft makes sunshine and clear air much easier to achieve.   Today just looked unusually gunky.    That will get the boot tonight.

Ellensburg had a gust to 55 a little bit ago.  That is some screaming onshore flow.

Pacific High is flexing its muscles finally.  It's possible the enhanced trade winds along the bottom of the surface high complex will finally kick the Nina into gear as well.  I'm not holding my breath though.

SEA is at 66 after a brief spike to 67.  It would be hard, but not impossible to hit 70 now.  Ironically this would make anywhere near a record long streak of 70+ highs pretty much off the table this season.

Today is much too gloomy.   Tomorrow should be much nicer but still cool with full sunshine and the smoke completely gone.

I loved today. We topped out at 62 here. Sitting at 60.5 right now with a nice breeze. It was a very nice change and I could go for a day or two a week like this all summer.  Would love some rain.  Had sprinkles for about an hour yesterday and drizzle all morning today.  Enjoyable but not too helpful to the dry A$$ environment.
Oregon looks nice and Cali still looks like Hell.

You would have to temper your snow expectations which I don’t think you want to do.

694,000 acres burned now in Oregon. The entire Malheur National Forest is closed to public access. Not a great summer for getting outdoors.

Would be nice to get marine layer days that burn off late morning/ early afternoon more often. 69/58 so far today.

Yes I totally agree and was a staple of our old school summers. That gives perfect afternoons. All day sun makes it too hot but I’m not a fan of no burn off days like today either.

Guessing SEA ended up at 68 or 69 in the end.  A solid -11 on the high temp.

My sister lives in Everett. She gets plenty of marine layer days. We get lower 80s on Thursday. 😁

Not weather related…But just a reminder for the boaters out there..If you’re going to attempt this, at least remember to put on the sports cup first.

91 at my place in Bend. 19 days in a row 90+ which I believe is a new record. Looks like another two days to add on. It does feel nicer this evening though. 76 now which is 6-10 degrees below most nights at this time during this stretch.

KSEA reported drizzle overnight but no measurable precip. Noticed some on the way to work today around 1pm

I think there's been more further north. There was lots of drizzle and even fog in Edmonds today.

If we could have almost every day of summer be like today, that would be great, throw in a handful of 90+ days just for a reminder, today was a great day out this way, upper 60's, mostly sunny, yes please!  Oh and the extended forecast shows the exact same weather, so nice to have a comfortable house at night for a stretch!

Today was a notably cloudy and chilly day in Seattle.  Not even close to normal.  Other areas with sun were much closer to average.   The rest of the week should be much sunnier in Seattle.
