Goodbye, record-setting Politics thread at 400+ pages. Hello, new Politics thread that will probably lead to the same result as all the other ones.

Joking aside - I agree with Black Hole's last post in the previous thread. It would be nice to pivot back to actual discussions with reasonable, nuanced positions and not just throwing crazy stuff at the wall to see what sticks. It would also be nice to not always resort to calling people 'delusional' or the 'anti-Christ' or whatever other adjective to describe people you disagree with.

Civil discussion with thoughtful responses. It's a concept, at least.

A new poll out of Miami-Dade county shows a tied race at 47% each with 6% remaining undecided. Unaffiliated voters back Trump by +8 points, which seems reasonably significant. 

Comparing this poll to 2020 and 2016, Biden won this county by 7 points in 2020 and Hillary won it by 30 points in 2016. So certainly not the best of signs for Kamala, although I'm sure the media will attempt to spin it into a positive somehow.

I'm sure everyone will be able to remain civil and on-topic as the election draws closer and closer.  

All kidding aside, any issues in here mainly come from a very small number of people, and it's probably a trolling act in part.  If it comes down to letting this thread continue or removing a select few, then the answer should be obvious.

If theres evidence of what happened on video, then it will be worse for trump. And they will essentially scapegoat the guy who committed the actual physical assault.  "Nothing to do with trump," they will say.

If it's just he said she said, not much will change and people will forget about it quickly.

This is from The Hill. For some reason they haven’t included some of the more recent polls taken after the convention aren’t included including the Yahoo! Poll showing her up 1%.

 

New Fox News swing state polls show Harris up by 1% in NV, AZ, and GA, Trump up 1% in NC. Gonna be close.

We also don’t know if Trump still has an EC advantage. As in we don’t know that Harris needs to win by 3%. There is one theory that is no longer the case due to the distribution of votes now. 
 

Also interviews with Republican and democrat pollsters are  saying internal polling is much less favorable for Harris.

Kinda funny, the Dems were suing to keep him off the ballot in some states, and now they're fighting to keep him on in others.

I don't know anything about that county... except that it is a majority Cuban and I have heard they strongly support Trump.   Probably doesn't apply to the rest of the country and might not even apply to the rest of Florida which could still be in play.

We don’t know this. He’s going to win a lot of smaller states by huge margins and New York could be a little closer.

National handicappers say 75-80%. The closest poll I’ve seen there is Trump +4.

I don’t care about per-capita gdp I care about people’s quality of life. France’s life expectancy is 82 and barely fell during Covid…Arkansas’ is 75 or so. Evidently all dollars are not created equal. If you want to live a long and healthy life and you’re not rich, the US isn’t really the place to be.
