I don't know why MTG goes to the places she does sometimes.

Really?   Same can be said for Trump.    Its for drama and attention.   That is just the reality of the situation.    Its fine to admit it.

Good news is that Trump will be in charge of the government again soon and will be re-introduced to their ability to control the weather.   Will MTG still say the government can control the weather when another major hurricane hits the US next year and Trump is president?    I mean... Trump will be controlling the weather so there is no one else to blame.

Would Jim care if Kamala wins and shuts down Fox and NewsMax?     Makes sense.   😀

Federal Communications Commission Chairwoman Jessica Rosenworcel denounced Trump’s latest call targeting CBS, flatly rejecting an idea the agency has ruled out under both the Biden and Trump administrations.

“While repeated attacks against broadcast stations by the former President may now be familiar, these threats against free speech are serious and should not be ignored,” Rosenworcel said in a statement. “As I’ve said before, the First Amendment is a cornerstone of our democracy. The FCC does not and will not revoke licenses for broadcast stations simply because a political candidate disagrees with or dislikes content or coverage.”

I didn't see it get reported on a lot (shocker) but the NY appellate court seemed to poke a sh*tload of holes into the February fraud ruling by Justice Engoron against Donald Trump. Some bits and pieces from a NY Times article...

Quote

Judith N. Vale, New York’s deputy solicitor general, had barely begun addressing the court before one of the judges, David Friedman, interrupted her to cast doubt on the lawsuit. Other members of the panel inquired about possible “mission creep” by the attorney general’s office. They also questioned what “guardrails” might have ensured that Ms. James did not overstep her authority by second-guessing the net worth estimates that Mr. Trump had provided to lenders.

Justice Friedman, who appeared the most skeptical of the case, asked Ms. Vale to identify any other case in which the attorney general’s office had sued “to upset a private business transaction that was between equally sophisticated partners.”

Before she could respond, Dianne T. Renwick, the court’s presiding justice, who generally seemed supportive of the case, added her own question. “And little to no impact on the public marketplace?” she asked.

Justice Friedman asked at one point whether the attorney general’s office had conceded that, although “Trump received a lower interest rate than he might otherwise have received,” he still had sufficient assets to receive a preferential rate.

“Absolutely not your honor,” Ms. Vale replied. “The evidence is to the contrary.”

As she continued, another judge, John R. Higgitt, interjected.

“Sorry,” he said, “but what’s being described sounds an awful lot like a potential commercial dispute by private actors.”

Justice Friedman soon weighed in again, saying the cases that the attorney general’s office had cited involved the Lehman Brothers collapse and a scheme that induced naïve consumers to take out loans they could not afford.

“That hardly seems that it justifies bringing an action to protect Deutsche Bank against President Trump,” he said, adding: “You’ve got two really sophisticated parties in which no one lost any money.”

And for a slightly more colorful account of what went down in that courtroom...

I depart with Jim on the antagonism; however, it has to be a fair antagonism—applied equally to both parties. CBS owes him an apology because they were nakedly partisan and wilfully ignorant re: the importance of the laptop. They were wrong. Trump was right. They refuse to man up to it.

I retract my judicious comment the other day about CBS being a fair interview to Harris. Megan Kelly picked it apart especially in the context of what 60 Minutes used to be. Kelly brings receipts. A truly curious and fair journalist would have kept pressing and reframed many of the questions.

As for Trump’s bluster: who cares?! That’s baked into the cake. Media reciprocate Trump’s off-the-wall comments with hysteria of their own. That produces a nasty feedback loop.  For all his bluster, his foreign and domestic policy was fine in his first term. The Handmaid’s Tale didn’t unfold, democracy didn’t die.

At the risk of Snarky telling me I'm a broken record, I really have a tough time understanding why people feel the need to defend the media in this country. As if they haven't proven time and time again to be completely out of touch with the general American public, completely biased in favor of the Democrat Party, and have been found multiple times to twist or distort the truth of what Donald Trump has said or done. These statements are not conjecture. They are fact.

If there is anything in this country that we should all be able to agree upon, no matter where you fall on the political spectrum, it's that the national media landscape in this country is completely 100% broken. Gone are the days of true journalists that only tried to uncover and report the truth. Now are the days with armchair "analysts" and political operatives disguising themselves as journalists while they shove their preferred narrative down our throats and try to gin up as much anger and outrage as they possibly can.

Donald Trump says a lot of crazy, unhinged, hyperbolic stuff. But his labeling of the media as the 'enemy of the people' is among the more cogent statements that he has put forward.

Are they biased?   So is Fox and NewsMax.   Shut them down... pull their licenses!   CBS left in enough stumbling by Kamala for everyone to know she doesn't have good answers.   And Bill Whitaker repeatedly pressed her again when she dodged.  Why leave that in there if they didn't want her to look bad?   She never answered some questions and they left it plainly obvious to the viewers.   That is all they can do.

Dang, Kamala didn’t come across so well in that interview. Her confidence sounds shaken, completely different from the debate. She gives some vague non-answers. It seems people are hungry for concrete solutions and plans, which she’s a bit short on.

I wish Gov. Whitmer were the Democrat candidate. I’m voting for Kamala, but she needs to be way more direct, to the point and assertive than she was there to convince undecided voters.

Despite going on national television and saying immigrants are eating dogs and cats…Trump is continuing to gain ground in polling. With all the things he’s said it’s amazing that he still has a chance. Shows how bad Harris is.
For the first time since Joe Biden dropped out of the race, on 270s average polling he’s ahead by 0.2 points in Michigan, and tied in Pennsylvania. He’s only 0.4 behind in Wisconsin…and only 0.8 behind in Nevada. Has cut into those leads in recent weeks.

Not to mention he’s up +1.6 in Arizona and North Carolina. His lead slimmed slightly in Georgia to +0.6, but I just don’t see him losing this election. If he just shuts his mouth, goes golfing and minds his business he’s going to win.
Still insane to me that he nearly was killed 3 months ago. Im glad we didn’t have to deal with the chaos that would’ve created..could’ve been in some seriously dangerous times. I am kind of nervous about the future in our country post election with whoever wins…

I wonder if the stock market goes up or down if Trump gets elected the day of to 4 years later. Last time, the market had almost doubled, then co-video 19 hit, and the stock market came back down to exactly where it was when he was elected. That was the bottom. Took all the would be buyers to profit out.

You really really really over estimate the power & influence of old school media.

People aren't afraid of vaccines and 5G because of the Nytimes oped page.  People legitimately believe that the Democrats control the weather.

Immigration and the economy. Things that Harris can’t bring any real solutions or change to. Everything’s going to stay the same course it is now if she wins…which most people don’t want in terms of immigration and inflation.

Being fair... border crossings are way down to a level lower than in 2019 under Trump.   And inflation is way down from the post-pandemic mess as well.     Don't think there will be much will change in those metrics regardless of who wins.

Yes. I was legally required to sign up for the draft, my 2 sons were, and every other man in the country has to sign up, and if the war machine wants to send us off to some bs war like the Vietnam, they are able to do that and there's nothing we can do about it. So yes, there are laws against our body.

270towin now has trump up .2% in Michigan, and up in Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina, and a tie in Pennsylvania, which gives him the win even from polls with strong left leaning bias.

Unless something big happens between now and election day, trump will win this election.

Yeah…I want women to have access to reproductive care (including abortions, with all the caveats there about trimesters etc). And wanting that doesn’t preclude recognizing there are some ways that men have it tough, too. Another thing I think is often overlooked is that the most dangerous industries tend to be dominated by men.

OMG dude.   🤣

That is how they do those interviews.   Everyone is saying Bill Whitaker was tough on Kamala.   Sean Spicer who has a deep hatred of left wing media bias was praising 60 Minutes for being tough and fair.

The point is that looney tunes Trump thinks CBS should be shut down.    Its pure insanity and you know it.   Trump is moron.   Its perfectly fine to say he is a moron and laugh at his stupidity and say you are voting for him.   Many on the right are able to do that.

Tim you are beyond belief.  You don't actually think Trump is serious when he makes these outlandish remarks do you?  It's his way of overshooting to get his point across.  In this case, he wants us all to know CBS is biased.  Why are we always ranting on the personalities of these two candidates?  It's their policies that matter.  It's their records that matter.  I don't care a bit about how ridiculous Trump sounds when he's exaggerating and bragging.  That's who he is.  He was the same when he was president and for my money he did a good job, he kept our country safe, prices down, and kept us respected on the world theatre.

Fox News is running with revoking CBS license as its headline banner.  😀

270towin now has trump up .2% in Michigan, and up in Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina, and a tie in Pennsylvania, which gives him the win even from polls with strong left leaning bias.

Unless something big happens between now and election day, trump will win this election.

Let's pray he has no more attempts on his life.

Hahaha.  Well I remember Hillary advocating removing Fox's license in 2017 after she lost.  Fox knows it would be next to impossible to make that happen.  It's all hyperbole and arm waving that ends up meaningless in the end.

Edit:  I see the headline on their website.  The story is behind a paywall but it doesn't surprise me at all that they would jump on that if there is some truth to the accusation that CBS re-shot a Kamala word salad.

Who cares?   They made it look really bad for her anyways.

You really really really over estimate the power & influence of old school media.

People aren't afraid of vaccines and 5G because of the Nytimes oped page.  People legitimately believe that the Democrats control the weather.

The biggest misinformation flingers on this thread are not the liberals. Imagine that.

I think the climate change movement sowed the seeds for people thinking weather can be controlled.

Yes. She said there are no laws that the government has control over a man's body (and she didn't accidentally say it, she has said it countless times) and I brought up the draft which is the most obvious answer. I was legally required to sign up for the draft, my 2 sons were, and every other man in the country has to sign up, and if the war machine wants to send us off to some bs war like the Vietnam, they are able to do that and there's nothing we can do about it. So yes, there are laws against our body.

But you have no ability to accurately argue with what I'm saying, so all you can respond with is that... since it is impossible for you to admit she is wrong and I'm right.

Tell us more about how hard your life is by something that literally has had no impact on your life whatsoever.

You are a waste of time if you think that's an appropriate analogy.
