Freeze warnings just west of here tonight in the mountains. Too soon! I'm already at 48F. Warmest day of the year on average is 44 days ago.  I guess because of the flat landscape of Canada, when it starts getting cold it has the potential to just pour down. It did snow in Denver, CO on this day 4 years ago.

Today will likely be our 8th straight day with below normal temperatures. But beginning tomorrow we should warm to near and then above normal as the week progresses. No rain in sight for this week.

Beautiful weather here in S MI continues, but could sure use some water from Ma Nature. After a very chilly Saturday w highs barely getting outta the 50s and lows dipping in the upper 30s to near 40F, temps will return back to normal and even above normal for the remainder of the week w plentiful sunshine to go along w that.

Lack of good rain lately is really taking a toll on the lawns now.  Have noticed a significant change in just the past week or so.  I mow the grass once a week and haven't skipped yet, but I'm likely going to skip it next time.

I gotta be honest with ya'll, this is really turning out to be a manifestation of what I wanted to transpire out here in the desert SW.  It's like we are going to flip the switch right in the middle of SEP.  It's becoming certain that we will indeed have a rather rare pattern of troughs digging pretty deep into the W/SW U.S. this weekend, but combine that with a tropical system coming up into the Baja region this weekend, ample moisture and instability will provide the state a lot of moisture and MUCH cooler temps.  It's funny watching the local TV mets and anchors expressing their joy and excitement to seeing double digit highs in the 7-day forecast.  You think it's been a HOT summer?

Havent been on for awhile.

Zero rain in sept.

Incredibly dry again. Our turnips and radishes plots are failing again all over southern iowa and north mo.  Se iowa boring AGAIN.

But Ottumwa did set a record low on sunday am of 41F.

The cool has slowed the chiggers and the dry has slowed the mosquitos.  But pollen and dust thru the roof.

The 1st 10 days of September have been the 2nd chilliest start to the month in the 21 years of records I have here in East Nantmeal...only 2017 got off to a chillier start.
Our slow moderating trend continues today through the weekend with temps reaching the low to mid 80's by the weekend but continuing comfortable humidity and seasonably cool nights.

Missed it by a day. Saw 37F outside temp on the thermostat overnight and woke up to a cold feel in the house for the first time in months. Decided to pop the Heat on to take the chill off (it's all relative since our main floor runs mid & upr 70's all summer even overnight). Been sick this week with a touch of something and my wife too so not too tolerant of this timing, lol. Back to gorgeous weather stretch now. Not officially Indian Summer, that'll be later. Extended summer tho in the 70's & 80's with low sun angle is welcomed any time. The mornings in the low-mid 30's last week have the sugar maples ablaze in splashes of scarlet reds and deep oranges near Higgins Lk. Got my first color tour commuting home from work Saturday mid-day. Unfortunately, taking photos on my phone from a fast-moving car wouldn't do it justice so not even trying (yet).

I wish Summer was like this every week.  Low to mid 80's and almost no humidity.  Beautiful.    The humidity has been outrageous in these summers.   Which probably actually keeps high temps down a little, but the payoff is uncomfortable dews every day.

I wonder why there is no easy way to get past dew points. You would think that would be part of the daily records.

I believe it's because it was and is very hard to keep accurate measurements and data with the tools they use for Relative humidity and dewpoints.  So they don't include that data for the most part.     I wonder if that will change in the future.

All I know is this current  weather is perfect without the humidity.

I think the Iowa State (IEM) website has that.  I know I've seen charts before.

Also, Weather Underground has daily obs going back decades.

Very dry here also. Crops are maturing rapidly. Really noticing how bad the yards are looking, unless you are really pumping the sprinkler systems.

The great stretch of late summer / early fall weather continues across the area with similar temps and low humidity almost every day through at least Tuesday. Highs will remain in the upper 70's to low 80's with some early morning fog possible each day and seasonably cool nights in the 50's. Next needed rain chances may appear by the middle of next week with a potential tropical disturbance along the east coast.

Our last meaningful rain here was .92" in August 15th. We had another .16" on August 31st as well, but its safe to say we are also in the dry club. Lawns are browning up.

We will have some rain chances early next week but we could easily be dry too. Temperatures will also be well above average into the middle of next week. Still thinking we cool down (hopefully with some rain) into the last third of the month.

We now have 11 days of September 2024 in the record books. The mean at Grand Rapids is 63.5 that is a departure of -3.5. The highest reading so far is 86 on the 5th and the lowest so far is 41 on the 8th. There has been just 0.26” of rainfall that is 0.94” below average.

While it has been very dry so far this month, we are still will above the record for the lowest amount of rainfall. In 1979 both Grand Rapids and Lansing only had a trace of rainfall for the whole month of September.

Looks like a -3.7 F monthly anomaly for Tulsa so far, though I imagine we will mostly erase that over the next 7 days given the well above normal temperatures coming.

Hello from Sedona!  It is a very comfortable and COOL 62F here this morning.  Winds will be picking up today as the trough across the N Rockies moves through the region but temps will manage to shoot up into the upper 80's.  Yesterday, the smoke and hazy skies in the PHX valley were evident from the wild fires burning near LA from the strong W/SW winds.  It was a fiery sunset due to the smoky skies.

Just got back from the Husker Harvest Days farm show in Grand Island. By far the warmest, driest, and windiest show yet… not a drop of rain out there either. Thankfully the humidity was low all week, but the wind and dust were rough out there. Drought conditions are definitely making a come back in the Great Plains after lots of good moisture this spring/ summer…. Thankful that we got what we did over that timeframe.

61 F at my place this morning, but I see some upper 50s around town in cool spots. Definitely feels like fall. No change in the forecast with many days of upper 80s to low 90s coming up and mostly or entirely dry.

There is still some ensemble hint of a cool down with better rain chances for the last part of the month but its still uncertain.

High today 92, then the week’s high of 98 tomorrow.  Then we drop a little every day for a week.
Next weekend looks like a high of 90.
Slight chance of rain next Saturday.  Won’t hold my breath.  Very dry here.

Temps should finally warm to above normal values this afternoon and through the weekend before we fall back to normal or slightly below normal by the start of the new work week. The next small chance of any rain looks to be toward Wednesday next week.
